Pastor Mick shares about Jesus' encounter with the rich young man that ended in the young man leaving disappointed, and unwilling to make the switch from the idol of money to the One True God. Mick encourages us to identify and let go of anything that could be inhibiting us from a devoted following of Christ.

Pastor Mick shares about Jesus impromptu meeting with the kids in Mark 10, as well as the rebuke from, and to, the disciples about hindering people from coming to Jesus. He reminds us that our call as disciples is to help others find Christ, not put unnecessary stumbling blocks in their way.

Pastor Mick completes the brief miniseries "Jesus On Marriage and Divorce" by addressing four practical questions asked him over the years about Divorce, Marriage, and Remarriage.

"Jesus On Marriage and Divorce". pt. 2 - Mk. 10:1-12. In this study, part 2, Pastor Mick shares four facts about marriage and divorce. He also explains the difference between normal marriage agreement and one that is based on a Covenant of marriage under the headship of Christ.

Mark 10:1-9 - "Jesus and God's Plan For Marriage". Pastor Mick continues our study thru Mark's gospel. In this passage Mick walks us thru the Pharisees' attempt to discredit Jesus by asking a controversial question about divorce. Jesus replies by laying the original foundation, pattern, and plan for marriage.

Mark 9:33-48 - "Extreme Discipleship". Pastor Mick continues our study in Mark by going backwards in chapter 9 to see Jesus dealing with his frequently disappointing disciples on the call of discipleship. Mick walks us through the conversations on "the most important disciple", "we are better than them", and how to handle "stumbling blocks."

As a follow-up to Pastor Mick's "Salted By Fire" study last week, and to our recent fire-related damage and displacement from our regular church home, Assistant Pastor Jason Johnson shares a very practical study, from Heb. 11:25-29, about loss, suffering, and God's glory.

Mark 9:49-50 - "Salted By Fire". In our first service in the Southern Baptist facility, Pastor Mick shares about the Spring Street Fire that ravished Spring Street and nearly destroyed our building, God's provision for us while our building undergoes repairs, and our future plans. He also shares how Jesus keeps his servants "salty" and flavor-ful in the world, by occasionally "salting" or "seasoning" us with the fire of suffering.

05-22-2022 - Mk.9:14-29. In this study, Pastor Mick looks at the post-Transfiguration encounter of Christ with the remaining 9 disciples, the scribes, and a family in crisis. Jesus' healing of the demonized boy gave a setting to teach a lesson about faith. "Lord I believe, but help me in my unbelief."

05-15-2022 - Mk.9:1-13. In this study, Pastor Mick looks a some details of the Transfiguration of Christ. This amazing spectacle was like an un-veiling preview of the Messiah, the King who will reign one day on the earth. Mick takes us through particulars of Jesus' guests, Moses & Elijah and through insights related to the "after six days", and the "beloved son" title.
