I loved the intro. Great into, great pace, and GREAT TEASE. I was waiting (and waiting) to hear about your trip to the supreme court. There was a bit of "how the sausage is made" talk with the co-host, and you explained how you were bringing him on because you go to go to the supreme court. Then he explained he was excited about being on the podcast (I don't care, I want to hear about the supreme court). Then he makes you introduce yourself. It's YOUR show we know who you are (or should through your previous episodes). You are the man who needs to introduction. Are we going to make Jimmy Fallon introduce himself if we interview him on the tonight show? Then the co-host starts to explain that yes, you went to the supreme court. Just get to the good stuff.

You have knowledge that only a handful of people have, and we want to hear that content. Get to it. Nobody likes to get teased for extended periods of time.

You also did a transition to nothing. If you're going to transition, don't announce it. Just do it. Stop talking, fade the music in and start the second segment. The audience will figure out that they'ev transitioned. Your noise gate needs to be a little more aggressive at the beginning. It's doing a good job of cutting out the background, but the minute you breathe it opens. The background noise during the interview was tolerable.

BONUS: I don't normally comment on your website, but there is no link to Apple, Google Podcasts, or Spotify on your website. SUBSCRIBERS are the name of the game. Make it easy for them.

The production and audio quality were fine. I like the ability to say things that might offend people. I love hearing like "Best birthday party ever" when there was a massive shooting of kids. That is sooo not PC, so I love your creativity and courage. I just felt like I didn't know enough (besides that Mike is a Mime) about what is going on. It IS interesting, but as I don't know what I'm listening to (it appears to be an audio drama). For me I didn't hate it, I was a bit confused, and if I had free time I would listen to see if I could figure out what the heck I was listening to. Maybe a bit more description in Apple would give me a clue as to what I was walking into.

For me, I don't think you need the interview snippet as you did a good job of explaining why your guest was on the show. You did a good job of explaining that this was not just about books. The professional introduction gave me a good idea of what to expect. You started off with the back story of the guest (which took a while) and then you wanted the back story of how he got involved in books. We were seven minutes in and you had given me nothing that made me want to hear more. Your introduction is way too long.

    Simple answer:

    • What to expect?
    • Who is the show for?

    • Listener Feedback

I loved the way you started the show with the tease from Diane, and then you REALLY engaged the theater of the mind. I could see the plane on the highway on fire. You had informed us of the stakes as the plane was on fire, and people were dead. You really pulled me into the story. Then you took a hard right to do some housekeeping. Then you went back to Diane and started from the beginning of the story. I'm not sure how to "fix" this. You did a great job with the story as a tease, but almost too good (maybe make the setup shorter?) or just start the interview with Diane at the time of the wreck (instead of the details of the type of plane, and where she lived, etc).

I've listened to the episode (full) already and I did love that as I was listening I knew Diane (obviously) had lived, but I wasn't sure if she could walk or not. You kept me guessing and wondering "what happens next?." I would move the housekeeping either to "post-interview" or do it before you start anything about the story (which would not be my first choice). For me the problem was you did too good a job creating a theater of the mind of the crash at the beginning.

The audio quality was fine. I didn't get the podpeople sketch/commercial. As this is a story, I found it didn't trigger the "theater of the mind" and I wasn't sure what the story was about. I also am not sure I can take the fake robot voice. It may be that I'm just not your target audience (not a huge sci-fi fan) but in general, I didn't understand the "commercial" or the beginning of the story.

I liked the quality of the intro. The one thing I thought I would learn from this show is what the heck Polyvagal theory is. You mentioned this was about listening and for me, I forgot due to the chit-chat that we were talking about and you might have said something like, "So we are talking about listening today, and the first thing on my list is asking why..." Justin's microphone is a bit boomy. I'm listening in a quiet room so I really hear that, but if you're using a Blue Yeti, make sure its set to pick up from the front (Only) and get up close. The bottom line is you held my attention, and I would listen to the rest of this episode.

The audio sounds great. I met these ladies at She Podcasts. They are journalists, and they are crafting the story of Penny Marshall and Penny Marshall. For me, I don't need this background information for me to understand their trashy divorce. About the time I get bored waiting for some trashy divorce, you went into some Patreon talk. You haven't' delivered any value yet, so why would I support your Patreon account. For me, I couldn't hang in long enough to get to the actual trashy divorce talk.

      Description

The cannabis/hemp industries are the new gold rush for investors and entrepreneurs, but veterans are being left in the dark due to the stigma and misunderstood financial aspects of the industry. Cannabis business owners also don't know how to communicate with the military community about opportunities in their businesses.

This show aims to fill the void.

Brought to you by a West Point graduate who believes in the multi-faceted benefits of cannabis, Scott R. Tucker is passionate about showing the veteran and military spouse community how to become leaders in the Cannabis Gold rush.

The music intro with no voice-over was too long. You kind of lost me introducing why the guest was on at the beginning. You got a little to inside baseball talking about groups the audience has no access to. You did a great job with your first question. I've said it before. Anchor.fm is horrible

For a second episode, you are out of the gate. With a little post production to lose some "ums" you are well on your way.

      Opinion
I liked the intro, it was short and to the point and I knew what the show was about and who it was made for. Dave is VERY high energy (and when his guest wasn't it makes him appear even more hyper). He asked good questions (although they had a ton of setup) but his guest didn't do a very good job and admittedly took a tangent. I would've somehow fixed that in post and edited that out or somehow kept her on track. I love that he has how many reviews he has on his website (even though reviews do nothing for you - they are just social proof) and the number is wrong (which somewhat hurts your credibility).

Once I got used to Dave's voice, I can see myself listening to this show (or at least giving another episode a try - he has good titles).
