The Rising Tide of Persecuted Christians in the Middle East: We must not close our eyes or cover our Hears: Now is the Time to Act

For some, the end of the persecution that is happening in the world is simply just a click of the remote control or a change of a dial. But, for others, it is a reality that is beyond the comprehension of evil. In the Middle East, continual travesties and the horrific slaughtering of children and their families are happening over and over, and over again. In a recent interview, Glenn Beck sat down with the author of Defying ISIS, Johnnie Moore. As a man who has traveled extensively to the Middle East and visited those who are experiencing these atrocities, Moore has connected deeply with those being effected most. According to Moore, in one particular village, an ISIS convoy of 40 trucks rolled into a village. The ISIS militants didn’t ask the parents, but began by asking the children if they are Christians. The children began to be murdered, one by one, because of their allegiance to Jesus Christ; the wives in these villages are being raped and the daughters are being taken into sex slavery. When the Christians in the Middle East were asked about the Christians in America, they ask how these are events are not known? They feel that they are forgotten.

It’s important to remember that Thomas was one of the original disciples in the New Testament. Jesus gave the gospel to Thomas and Thomas carried the gospel to the Middle East. As the church in America, we would have no history if it were not for the Church in the Middle East. Their history is our history. Glenn asks a riveting question as he remembers the images of the 21 Christians that were beheaded on the shores of Tripoli. As if the death of 21 Christians were not enough, Glenn recalls the blood colored ocean tides, “how is that not everywhere?” Moore continues to share the sobering realities of ISIS’s intentions towards America. Their belief is that if someone lives in America, they are Christian.

There is so much virtual reality taking place in our generation, that for some, it is hard to differentiate from what is virtual and what is reality. This is really happening. We have to awaken to the truths that are occurring on our watch, in our generation, and during the time that we will have to answer to God about what we did or what we did not do. If not, we are susceptible to the dangers of comfort and convenience. The only greater concern than these truths that are happening is the concern that we are not concerned. Jesus said in Luke 9:23-24, “Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it.” It matters how we respond. It matters how we don’t respond. America Can Find Great Encouragement in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Decisive Election Victory: Organizing Effort Failed to Remove Bibi

Against all odds, negative criticism, and the world’s input on Israel’s election for the next Prime Minister; the people of Israel have voted. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will remain as the Prime Minister over the State of Israel. What was touted and publicized as a tight race, resulted in a landslide decision with Netanyahu remaining in the seat as Prime Minister. Not only is the world surprised, but as CBN reports, even Netanyahu’s supporters were surprised.

In the pressing moments up to and until these elections, there appeared to be growing tensions about internal factors within Israel; cost of housing, cost of food, etc. But overwhelmingly, the Jewish people decided that the issue of security amidst nuclear negotiations and two State solution negotiations regarding Palestinians was more important. In the celebratory atmosphere of Netanyahu’s victory, CBN reports how the Prime Minister’s spoke from Joel; 3:20 as he gave his response, “And I want to thank you, all the citizens of Israel, for faith in Israeli democracy and for the faith in our one and only country. With your help and with the help of God we will protect her together, and 'Judah will be inhabited forever, and Jerusalem for all generations.'

This is greatly encouraging and exceedingly important on so many levels. In face of global pressures, relentless opposition and constant criticism, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remained steadfast for truth. America can be greatly encouraged in light of these events. Amidst the growing strife, and what appears to increasing division on every level, we can stand up for truth. We can stand up for righteousness, for the Judo-Christian Values that America was founded upon. When we hear the voices about food prices, jobs, the cost of gas, etc. we don’t have to respond in fear. We are still one nation under God. Before we look at current leadership of America, that are pivotal individuals that we need to assess first. When we look at the journey of Israel in the Old Testament and how God responded to Israel’s actions, we have a clear picture of how we, as the church, can respond in today’s realities. If we are aware of a potential threat, we are responsible to make that threat known so that others can adequately prepare. The threat of terrorism is nothing new in the world. The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has recently taken a trip of boldness, to make known to the American Congress, the dangers of a nuclear capable Iran. How did we get to where we currently are? Over the last few years, The Lord has been revealing what will be taking place. It looks like the plan is unfolding. Looking at the track record of global headlines, we have consistently seen: Israel, the Middle East, Iran, Congress, the United Nations, and Radical Islam. Focusing on one particular topic may not seem as alarming as compared to the time line of events, speeches made, and occurrences that have taken place since the onset of our current administration.

The first international speech that President Obama gave was at Cairo University. Just by looking at a few comments that were made during this speech, we can see a narrative was introduced during this speech. The question is what is this narrative? In this opening international moment, he stated, “…when the first Muslim American was recently elected to Congress, he took the oath to defend our Constitution using the same Holy Koran that one of our Founding Fathers -- Thomas Jefferson -- kept in his personal library.” He also made known, “I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.” At a United Nations speech, President Obama stated, “The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam”. To understand the sheer weight of this statement, it’s important for us to know what the word “slander” means. This can also be interpreted as “blasphemy”. What does Islam consider “blasphemy”? In a speech made in Jerusalem, President Obama boldly declared, “let me say this as a politician -- I can promise you this, political leaders will never take risks if the people do not push them to take some risks. You must create the change that you want to see. --Ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things.”

When we look at the greater sum of these actions and these remarks, the administration has been quite forthcoming about their intentions. Have we been hearing and discerning what the intentions were? When we see the full picture, it brings greater understanding as to why the President is openly taking any issue regarding Israel directly to the United Nations. There is a strategy being carried out. If we do not pay attention to the events at hand, we cannot be surprised when the consequences of these actions come to pass. Pray for Israeli Election for the Prime Minister: its Outcome can Potentially Affect the World

As we rewind the tape of history of the United States, we see the different Presidents that have come and gone since the time that George Washington was the first of many. We understand the importance of elections as the leadership of Presidential styles can vary so differently as elections come and go. When we look at the nation of Israel, there have been many Prime Ministers since the first was Davin Ben-Gurion. For the State of Israel, tomorrow is a demarcation line as elections are being held for the next Prime Minister of Israel. Of all the Prime Ministers, Benjamin Netanyahu is the 2nd longest serving Prime Minister since the first in office, David Ben-Gurion. As VFNtv has reported in detail about the Netanyahu’s resolve, leadership, and boldness through events such as Operation Protective Edge and his speech to the United States Congress, he has demonstrated himself and a protector of both Israel’s security and protection. If tomorrow’s election does result in favor for Prime Minister Netanyahu, the protection and security of Israel may be drastically hindered.

According to CBN, “some of Netanyahu's opponents call him a bigger danger to the world than Iran.” There are individuals taking part in the elections, not from the State of Israel that are seeking to sway these elections. Reportedly, the Jewish people don’t make voting decisions until the last 48 hours. We are in those last 48 hours. As the church, it is vitally critical that we pray for the peace of Israel; that we pray for the elections of Israel; and we pray for the salvation of Israel. The Moravians teach us not just to stand for our Generation but for Generations to Come

When two young Christian men heard of an atheist slave owner who controlled nearly 3,000 slaves, their reactions are still sending ripples of their boldness to this day. No minister was allowed on the West Indies Island where this slave owner and slaves were being held captive. There was no other option. These men sold themselves as slaves. Their reasoning? “May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward for His suffering!” They made a choice not for themselves or their own generation, but for others, and for generations to come. This is the story of the Moravians.

Dutch Sheets has described this kind of action, like planting an evergreen tree. We don’t do these types of things for ourselves, or to receive the fruit for our own generations, but for generations to come. There is a people in this generation that are hungry and searching for the God of the Bible. In this critical hour, it is not for us to think about ourselves, but to be those who would advance the Kingdom for the cause of Christ by telling the nations about the Good News of Jesus Christ. 2 Law Enforcement Officers Shot, one in the face, one in back, in Ferguson. Is there a Tipping Point? Light & Love must be our response.

Ferguson is again in the news from late night headlines as 2 officers have been shot. According to reports, one officer has been shot in the face and the other has been shot in the shoulder. How many people have promoted the anger that we are witnessing? It appears that the media is capturing the events, the imagery, and pushing it. During the engagements of gunfire, a video captures the live events that took place as these events unfolded. Moments after muzzle flashes shined into the night, the video captures a bystander stating, “….acknowledgement 9 months ago would of kept that from happening…” This is not how we are to respond; not as human beings; not as the Body of Christ. If we respond in anger to the anger and hatred that is fueling the environment, we are only making it stronger. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. stated, “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

As we see the violence and uproar of voices increasing in America, the Department of Homeland Security has released a video on how people can respond to a situation if an armed gunmen enters the workplace and begins to randomly kill innocent bystanders: Run, Hide, or Fight. When we look at the past events in America: the borders of America, Fast and Furious, did they know these events would soon come? Many are the injustices that have happened in America; both in our present day and our history. This is true. We have to be mindful of those who are using the pain and injustices of others to promote and fuel their own agenda. It is basic Alinsky Tactics 101 to push us to respond in anger. As the Church, we are not to respond with the world’s mindset, but, we must respond with compassion and wisdom.
