  • Who Loves God?
John, Pat and Chris talk about a very important question. Who loves God? There has never been a more important and misunderstood virtue than love. Many today would say that they love God if they were asked. John and Pat share how Jesus defines loving him in John 14:21-22, and 23-24 and the rewards of loving God.

  • The Mercies of God
John and Pat discuss the King Manasseh and his journey to find God in 2 Chronicles 33. Manasseh did much evil in the eyes of the Lord. He did very wicked things. He did not follow the ways of his Father who honored God. God even tried to speak to Manasseh but he paid God no mind. At this one moment God could have taken Manasseh's life but instead God extended mercy to him. God brought the army of Assyria; they took him prisoner, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him captive to Babylon. It was through this mercy that Manasseh came to the end of himself. He was able to cry out to God and humbly sought out God's favor. God was so moved by his earnest and sincere cry that God brought him back, restored him and gave him a second chance. That is the mercy of God. God's mercies are new of every morning. We need to appropriate the mercy of God and change and turn back to him. Don't ignore God; turn to him in great humility and make things right.

  • Taxes Raised; Is this the way to fix the debt
John and Pat discuss the fiscal cliff and debt ceiling debates that are due to begin in a couple of months. Now that the so called fiscal cliff has been diverted many Americans are discovering that taxes were not just raised on those earning $400,000 or more but at least 77% of Americans are seeing a tax increase too. This country does not have a revenue problem. We are the wealthiest country in the world and generate very large revenue in taxes. The real issue is the spending. It's time for the Federal government to operate like many responsible American families do every day. They adjust their spending based upon the amount of money that comes in the home. However, the government continues to charge the credit card and wants to spend more. John and Pat continue to discuss what is happening and has happened in Europe. French film star Gerard Depardieu has obtained a Russian passport after the star left his homeland to avoid a new tax rate for millionaires according to the Guardian. French President, François Hollande is planning on a 75% tax hike for the super-rich. They continue to discuss that if we continue to tax the rich they will leave the country with their money causing everyone else to have to make up the difference. Things are not much better in Spain who now has an unemployment rate of 25% and many of their citizens are losing their homes. Recently locksmiths are refusing to change locks on houses that the Spanish banks are foreclosing on. This madness needs to stop. John and Pat continue to encourage us as Christians that we can't complain about the U.S. economy until the church begins to honor the Lord with their tithes and offerings. According to George Barna only 3% of the church actually tithes and honors God. They continue to offer hope for those who are honoring the Lord that they need not fear about the world's economy because they are participating in God's. As long as we honor the Lord he will take care of us. Let 2013 be the year we honor God with our finances.

  • Hobby Lobby Takes a Stand against Obamacare and for Freedom of Religion
John, Pat, and Chris discuss the Christian owners of Hobby Lobby's stand against Obama care. According to CBN their attorney said, the company will not provide the morning-after pill and week-after pills in its employee's insurance plan when the health care mandate takes effect Jan.1. 60,000 supporters showed up at Hobby Lobby stores across the country to support them for their stand for freedom of religion, their constitutional right. They continue to discuss that many Christians need to rise up and stand for God and for the constitution. If enough people refuse not to deny the Lord and stand for him this can begin a great ripple of change in this nation.

  • Loving Those God Loves
Greg asks a very important question. One which if answered correctly will have profound influence when it comes to relating with others and our perception of other people. The question is: Who does God Love? The answer is all mankind. People who are like us and people who are not like us as well as people who do good and those who do evil. As Christians how can we hate the one's God loves for God himself is love? We are called to love. John and Pat continue to share that there is a big difference between "religion" and love. Religion focuses on outward acts that have an appearance of godliness but that's all. God is not in it. We are called to be Christ's ambassadors, His representatives on the face of the earth. We can begin to do that when we understand the basis that God does everything in love. We are most like God when we love those He loves.

  • The Rewarded Secret Life
Many today are shocked to find out that someone has lived a secret life. Their secret life involved things that they shouldn't have done but there is a secret life that God rewards when we are doing the right thing with the right motives. John and Pat discuss three things the Lord instructs his followers to do; give to the needy, pray, and fast. Jesus is not just concerned with us doing them and completing a task he is just as interested in our motives for doing them. If we do anything for the eyes and praises of man than that is our reward. However, the Lord invites us to the secret place. The Lord wants us to minister to Him and to be only concerned with His eyes upon us. It's in this secret place, in this secret life of worship to God, that God rewards us. Jesus died to win the hearts of a people that would follow him out of sincere devotion and our willingness to seek Him in secret and enjoy His reward.

  • Let your light Shine
John and Pat share about Matthew 5:14 where Jesus tells his disciples that they are the light of the world. The purpose of light is so we can see. You don't light a lamp and immediately put a bowl over it. However, many believers today are placing bowls over their lights and allowing their light to shine in self focused controlled environments. Light only belongs in darkness. They continue to discuss how too many lights in one area becomes wasteful when in reality the light is functioning its best when it is placed in the environment it was designed to function. As believers God instructs us to shine our light in the dark world. Many people today are enslaved in darkness and are bound, they would benefit tremendously from the true light of Jesus. They encourage us to share Jesus with others that don't know him. Get out in to our communities and let our good deeds shine so that people would see them and praise God in heaven. The Lord loves every single person. He wants us to love people and by loving them we let our light shine.

  • Sold Out or Sell out; You can't be both
John, Pat and Chris discuss a recent segment aired on VFNRadio titled Are you willing to stand when everyone else is willing to bow? As well as a recent teaching, Time to Take a Stand. They share about bout three men named Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and how they were not willing to bow down to King Nebuchadnezzar but instead were willing to stand for God even at the cost of their lives. They continue this discussion with the questions what was it like for these men to take such a stand and do we see Christians taking this stand today for Jesus. These three men were challenged to compromise their worship of God and their values yet did not sell out. Some in the church today have been willing to sell out to the world instead of selling out to Jesus. They continue about situations and circumstances believers may find themselves where they will be challenged like these three men. Will they stand for God or will they go with the crowd. These three men because of their courage to take a stand even if it cost them their lives resulted in the turning of a nation to God's ways. What would happen if believers across our country would have this same resolve and devotion to the Lord, one that would cause them to be sold out to God? We can turn a nation back to God.

  • Chuck Hagel Defense Secretary? What does that mean for Israel
John, Pat, and Chris discuss the recent nomination of Chuck Hagel former Republican Senator from Nebraska to Defense Secretary. They continue to discuss that he allegedly is not supportive of Israel. He has made statements about the Jewish lobby being an intimidating force on Capitol Hill. He also at times allegedly resisted sanctions on Iran for its nuclear program and has balked at naming Hezbollah a terrorist group. The United States must stand with Israel our greatest ally in the Middle East. This has never been more important than the present when it was just reported by CBN that Egyptian President Morsi, member of the Muslim Brotherhood, said of Jews in a 2010 interview, referred to Jews as being "descendants of apes and pigs ...there is no place for them on the land of Palestine." President Obama has backed the Muslim Brotherhood and has gotten behind President Morsi. Israel has many enemies that would want to wipe Israel off the face of the earth. We must stand with Israel our greatest ally in the Middle East and continue to pray for the peace of Israel.
