This week Paco and Jef take you on a trip to a time when the Monkees show was hijacked by sentimental "touching" moments: Monkee Mother. The boys get kicked out of the pad but somehow are allowed to stay when the new tenant, Millie, moves in. It's a strange episode but still a goody.
After all the fun games we have more fun and games with the Woolhat Of Mystery...which three songs will they pull out this time? Where will they land in the countdown? I guess you'll have to listen to find out...or skip ahead but where's the fun in that?
This week the boys are in trouble after Peter intercepts a secret code inside a fortune cookie putting all of them in danger. Micky and Peter are captured and Davy and Mike turn to their alter egos the MONKEE MEN! to help save the day! Will they get there in time before Micky and Peter are tortured by the evil Dragon Man?! Tune in to find out!
Also in this episode are the debuts of Angry Dee Caruso and Little George Harrison as well as the Woolhat Of Mystery!
Believe it or not, Monkees fans, but Paco and Jef had never heard the entire post-Monkees album "Dolenz, Jones, Boyce and Hart" so sit back, relax and make yourselves comfortable for this extended special episode! Listen to the honest reactions of Paco and Jef as they listen to the album for the very first time while recording this episode! Listen while they take you on a musical journey through the weirdo 70s album which has some Jams, some Jellies and some surprises...we hope you dig it!
This week Micky Dolenz takes centre stage in this episode...Davy is away in England, Peter barely shows up and Mike is there at the beginning and the end but it's Micky - actually TWO Mickys - that push this episode along. Micky plays himself as well as his cousin "Babyface" Morales and is hired by the cops to try to act as Babyface and hunt down his crew and the loot they stole.
Paco and Jef set the Woolhat Of Mystery aside this week and instead reach into the Missing Links of Monkees tunes and each choose a non-album cut as an Honorary Slip In to the ongoing Monkees countdown! Will you agree with their choices? Give it a listen and find out!
The Monkees are going to be in Chic magazine! A writer comes by and interviews the band but the story isn't juicy enough so another writer, Rob Roy Fingerhead - who hates the band - gets the job to run their good name through the mud. But the boys use the Chic awards ceremony to pull some Monkees ruse-action to try to get the last laugh.
Plus the Woolhat of Mystery is ready to go with another three random songs!
The boys are trying to get the oh so lucrative gig of being the house band on a children's tv show, Captain Crocodile. But the host of the show (the aforementioned Captain) thinks they want to take over the show so he makes their lives miserable. But in amongst the chaos the Monkees find the time to rip one of the greatest musical performances of the entire series: the original "Valleri". If you don't like this performance I don't think we can be friends anymore.
The Woolhat Of Mystery is full of fun jams and adds some great entries to the countdown - so get on it and check out this episode!
This week the Monkees infiltrate a circus that's on it's last legs and because Davy doesn't want a girl to be sad they lie to everyone and tell them that they're a high flying trapeze act and are there to save everyone's jobs! Suddenly wracked with guilt the boys realize they have to do something to actually save the circus or these people will lose their jobs...and worse yet - Davy won't get to make out with the girl!
Paco and Jef have a big day with the Woolhat Of Mystery countdown and pay another visit to "What About Another Band" where they each choose a different band they'd like to see get made into a TV series Monkees-style. Who do they choose? You'll have to listen to find out, silly.
In this very special episode, Paco and Jef talk about a video that Jef found on YouTube: a live Pool It!-era concert. It's a great snapshot of a time when the Monkees were on their way back up in a decade that was as crazy as the fashion: the 80s! With some great jams and some awful jellies, this concert review takes a deep dive in the weirdness that was the 80's Monkees...we hope you dig it!
Davy is mistaken for a prince who has to be married by the time he's 18 (sound familiar?) but is shy and can't talk to girls so he steps in and makes a woman fall in love with him...so she can marry the prince. The ethics are questionable but this episode is packed with gags but only has one song!
Paco and Jef bring you along to the royal wedding of the century (to Peruvia at least) and choose three new songs for the Woolhat Of Mystery countdown!
Finally Davy Jones gets to flex his muscles and play the role that he was born to play and will reprise in the move "Head": a boxer. Paco and Jef walk you through this Davy heavy episode where young Mr. Jones puts his own stardom ahead of the band's and tries to win the featherweight championship belt.
The Woolhat Of Mystery gets it's own theme song and a new edition to countdown makes waves this week!
