It was her own love of listening to podcasts that triggered marketing guru Carolyn Walker, CEO of Response Marketing, to approach her client McAfee with an idea of producing a branded podcast. The leap of faith has paid off big time – McAfee's podcast, Hackable?, today has more than 100,000 subscribers, 2.3 million downloads and is in the top 1% of all podcasts downloaded. This episode, Carolyn offers her thoughts on what makes a great podcast, how podcasting can help amplify a brand's message, and some tips on promoting a podcast.

How important is the Apple Podcasts chart and platform for marketing podcasts? Is SoundCloud a viable platform to host podcasts? What's the likelihood of Spotify dominating the space? How does a podcast stand out from a crowd of 700,000 or so that now exist? Don't do what everyone else is doing: quality production and a narrative form of storytelling helps build engagement from the get-go, according to Steve Pratt co-founder of Pacific Content, producers of some of the world's best-known branded podcasts. Their work includes the popular Slack Variety Pack, TGIM for e-commerce platform, Shopify, and the recent Three and a Half Degrees for Facebook.
BE's Chris Ashmore asks Steve to explain Pacific Content's collaborative process in creating audio content for their clients; how brands can promote their podcasts; and what he sees as the future of podcasting.

An often misunderstood and neglected part of podcasting is audio quality. Your podcast now is competing with increasing numbers of professionally-made and commercial quality shows. Attitudes of “close enough” is “good enough” won’t cut it anymore. This episode we sit down with our own Director of Audio and Podcasting, Peter Letts, who for more than 20 years has recorded, edited and assembled audio content for Australia’s leading brands. He walks us through the mistakes other podcasters make and shares us lessons on audio best practices.

More than half of Americans have now listened to a podcast, pushing the medium firmly into the mainstream according to latest results of The Infinite Dial 2019 from Edison Research and Triton Digital. While podcasting listenership is steadily increasing, Facebook continues to decline with an estimated 15 million fewer users than two years ago.
Sharon Taylor, CEO of Omny Studio, joins Nick Schildberger to discuss what these podcasting statistics mean for brands, as well as a wrap of Sharon's visit to RAIN Podcast Business Summit in New York where Google Podcasts Zack Reneau-Wedeen presented a keynote on Google's latest plans for podcasting and how audio SEO will be hugely significant to all businesses.

Also, Chris and Nick discuss Apple’s insistence on tagging season and episode numbers; the latest results on podcasting from the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB); and why a collaborative approach to podcasting might be a good idea.
