It's been quiet here and in this episode you find out why. It's good to be back and I am ready to support you on your podcasting journey BETTER THAN EVER. I am not just saying that. After the last 2 months I have learned that we simply don't have the time to overthink it.

You committed. You set a date to accomplish the next milestone for your podcast (to start it - to launch it- to market it.) But then, well, then things went to sh** Or maybe they didn't even go to sh**, maybe you just got really busy, or a new job, or a new projector a new whatever. So now you have two choices. ​

You can either 

1) beat yourself up and obsess about it OR 

2) you move on and keep dreaming your podcast dream as you readjust your plans.

I really wanted to offer you some raw Regina, after I just managed to somehow mess up my own time plan which led to missing the school bus for my oldest on what felt like the rainiest and windiest winter day ever.

(Gosh, me and my 3 little ones did look hilarious in our winter/raincoat outfits and racing to catch the bus...)

And while we are at not keeping (time) plans...

I was meant to send out this email to you already a few days ago, and actually I had planned to produce a much more sophisticated, polished tip for you.

As it turns out though, it proves my point. We plan, we schedule. And then things fall apart. Life is messy, we are messy.

So I want to encourage you to move past obsessing over getting everything right and exactly according to plan and instead keep moving forward.

Don't ever, EVER give up on your podcast dream, just because you have to readjust certain (time) plans, promise me that. Don't beat yourself up about it.

And you will get there. (As did my daughter who did manage to catch the next bus and made it to school on time. YAY! That's a win!)

We all want it. Growing our podcast!

If we really want to grow we need to be brave to actually courageously talk about out Podcast. Even (or -dare I say it! - ESPECIALLY to strangers!) 

So I just went to this wonderful event and bumped into a lovely bunch of creative people. I know it can feel very intimidating to put yourself out there with your podcast, but if you don't talk about it, how should others even get aware of your podcast?

What's more, even if you tell someone you just met about your podcast, don't rely on hoping that they will aferwards start looking for your podcast to start listening. 

Even if they would want to do that, oftentimes it's tricky for them to find your podcast in their podcast player. Especially if they for example don't know how the logo of your podcast looks (because, how would they?)

So help them find it your podcast on their phone, right there on the spot, as you are next to them. Even if you only just met. 

My challenge for you:

Next time you are at an event, tell at least 3 people about your podcast, and actually help them find it on their preferred podcast player on their phone. They might just become raving fans (PS: It happened to me before!)

When you produce a trailer for your podcast, I highly recommend that you have a script ready. 

Don't just try to wing it. Because (as you will hear in this trailer episode of mine!!) that hardly ever works out.

I am all for being spontaneous, free and nonscripted when doing a podcast (authenticity always wins for me) but when it comes to a trailer you want it to be tight. Make every work matter. Know what you want to say. Have it written out. Practice a few times. Your theme music as a layover will add some mood. That's helpful too. 

After all you want to entice your listeners to spend time with you. What can they expect, why should they subscribe? Who are you? Why does this topic matter (to you)? Why should your listeners care?

Stumbling over your words like I do in this trailer, probably will through them off. 

So here you have it.

We podcasters have the privilege to create something so beautiful, something that will inspire our audience - long after we will be gone. 

So keep creating you brave Podcasters out there. Creating something that lasts but don't forget to enjoy the moment too.
