In this episode I talk with cancer researcher, Dr. Krag, knitwear designer, author and breast cancer survivor Cat Bordhi, and Susan Sullivan, a 27 year veteran of the craft publishing about a groundbreaking program calling all knitters and crocheters to cast on to Cast Off Chemo! Through his amazing research, Dr. Krag has discovered that the key to curing cancer actually lies within our own body. The ultimate goal of this program is to raise 1 million dollars by October 2015 to begin treating those afflicted by this terrible disease.
Episode highlights:
* How the immune response works in the body and how this helps to fight cancer.
* How to take the immune cells out of the body, and give them back to the patient as a form of treatment, as a result- no chemotherapy!
* How knitting, life, and cancer illuminate each other in a harmonious way.
* Cat Bordhi talks about her book, Art of Felfs, and how yarn shops can get involved and teach from the book.
* Ways knitters and crocheters can get involved. Find a list of event ideas here.
* How you can make donations through castoffchemo.org by clicking on the “DONATE” button.
* Cat’s vision – a ground swell of knitters to be proud they contributed and in the end thousands of knitters can say “I helped cure cancer.”
* Fund raising ideas downloadable pdf.
* Susan Sullivan shares detail about an exciting eBay auction for the cause, which you can learn more about here.
