Laraina, from Canada, is my guest this episode, bringing her epic and vibrant dream for interpretation. Early in her dream she hears an anthem, so harmonious, so peaceful, so full of love, that she thinks she’ll never be able to recreate this moment.

What does the anthem represent in Laraina’s life, and how does the rest of her dream help her to see how to bring it more fully into her life?

As well as musical moments, there are some comic moments in this dream, notably one involving the actor Kristen Wiig and two cell phones attached to two plastic flyswatters being given a bashing.

But along with the lightness there are challenging and heavier journeys in this dream, as Laraina climbs down steep treacherous mountain paths in Turkey towards a deep brown-black sea, and hauls her way back up, almost giving up.

What a mouthful she gives the woman dressed in red at the end of the dream! Laraina is so angry with this woman for … well, listen in to find out.

The post Ep 180 The Dream Show: Live Dream Interpretation. Laraina dreamed of hearing an exquisite anthem appeared first on Dream interpretation and dream alchemy with Jane Teresa Anderson.

Jeremy is my guest today, with two related dreams, one featuring his father, one featuring his son. Jeremy had a feeling the dreams were connected, and he’s right.

In the first dream, Jeremy’s father is cooking lamb in an audition round for MasterChef, the television show. It’s delicious but, well, there’s usually a ‘but’ in dreams. Listen as Jeremy recounts his dream and the fate of dad’s tasty lamb.

Most dreams, when you look at them closely, introduce a problem or question that the dream drama then moves on to try to solve or answer. This is the ‘but’ in a dream. A dream starts, and either all is well and then the problem or question comes up, or the dream dives straight in at the beginning by introducing the problematic dream scenario that needs to be solved or resolved. That problem or question relates to the dreamer’s waking life, though a fair bit of detective work is needed first to break through the symbolism (the dreaming brain paints surreal representations rather than literal dramatizations) and see the connection.

In the second dream, Jeremy needs to catch a train but he’s not allowed through the ticket barrier unless he reconciles a situation with another Jeremy, a hairy, sweaty version of himself.

What is the situation, does he find a way to reconcile it, and how is his son involved in this dream?

This is a poignant, heartfelt dream, from which Jeremy awakes with deep emotion.

The last three episodes of The Dream Show featured guests who corresponded with me by email as we explored their dreams for the show. Listener feedback has given the email guest format a big thumbs up, so we will mix email guests with live guests like Jeremy from now on.

Diana from New York joins me as an email guest in this episode, with a dream that she was keen to share publicly because she knew it was the kind of dream that might deeply worry many people.

She also knew that dreams are not what they seem, and wanted to get an in-depth interpretation and to discover how it related to her life, why she had it now, and what she can learn from her dream.

Sex dreams are very common, but people generally don’t like to mention them.

Diana’s dream involves herself, her husband, and her teenage daughter, and a practical sex lesson that actually doesn’t eventuate.

In this episode, I interpret Diana’s dream and you’ll hear our correspondence about the interpretation, including Diana’s response and sharing about how the interpretation makes sense within her life, and what she draws from this.

When people are unfamiliar with the symbolic nature of dreams and dreaming, sex dreams involving family members are naturally extremely distressing.

Marjeta is my guest today, as we interpret her dream of escaping from drowning, relate it to her waking life situation, and find new insight to illuminate her journey.

In her dream, Marjeta finds herself up to her neck in rising water, trapped below a concrete ceiling, moments away from drowning. She escapes from the water only to be chased by two women, and then, when she momentarily finds herself free, her heavy legs drag her down until she is caught. What does this dream mean?

Marjeta is the first of our listeners to put her hand up to trial a new format, so I’m really interested to hear your thoughts on this episode.

I put the call out during episode 175, inviting people to email a dream for us to delve into on the show. As you know, if you’re a long time listener, being a guest on the show in our usual format involves us phoning or skyping the guest, and recording our conversation. I make a point of not wanting to know anything about the dream before we start recording, so that you, our listeners, are in the whole process with us, from hearing the dream for the first time with me, to discussing, exploring, and interpreting the dream.

The new format email approach opens more possibilities, especially for guests whose time zones or work commitments make recording a show challenging, and for guests whose first language is not English.

It was appealing for Marjeta, who lives and works in Slovenia, and whose first language is Slovene. We emailed back and forth, and I describe the process in today’s show. You’ll hear the dream, the questions I asked Marjeta, her replies, my interpretation, and her response to the interpretation.

How can your dreams help you to identify your calling, or surrender to the challenges or quests of karma, or heal the wounds that hold you back, or remove the blindfolds that obstruct a clear view of the best path forward, or give you the creative impetus and clarity to build a brand new path where before there was only the quicksand of doubt?

In this episode we look at how your dreams can help you to clarify and walk your path, whether that’s the path of your calling, the path of your intention, or whichever path you find yourself on right now or where you might rather be.

What does it mean to dream of a field of snakes, a talking dog, Wally from Where’s Wally?, or the panic of a dam about to burst and a frantic race through a prison mental asylum?

What does it mean to dream of being comforted by a mother who died by suicide many years ago?

These are some of the dreams I’m interpreting in this episode, giving you interpretation tips that you can apply to your own dreams along the way.

These six dreams were among the enormous number that people posted to my first website’s Public Dream Forum that ran from 1998 to 2003.

Although the website grew and expanded in other ways, the work required to manage the forums became overwhelming, even with the wonderful assistance of so many passionate people who learned my techniques and offered their interpretations, insights, love, care, conversations, and empathy to those who posted their dreams.

In the end, I closed the forums to further posting, keeping them available as a reading resource, and years later published a selection of the dreams together with my interpretations and suggested dream alchemy practices in two ebooks, 88 Dreams Interpreted and 50 More Dreams Interpreted.

To commemorate those years of the 1998-2003 Dream Forum, I chose six dreams from the first few pages of 88 Dreams Interpreted to bring to you in this episode.

That first website, now almost 18 years old, has been gradually downsized over the years that JaneTeresa.com has grown. Times and technology have changed, and the technology required to drive some parts of that first site are about to become obsolete, so it will be put to rest (and transformed into a one-page site) very soon.

I’m so pleased that a selection of dreams from the old Dream Forum has been conserved in these two ebooks and expanded with interpretations and dream alchemy practices, providing a helpful resource as well as honouring the contributions made by those dreamers all those years ago. Enjoy.

Why is it that we can experience things in our dreams that we haven’t experienced in our waking life? Like piloting a plane, levitating and flying without a plane, breathing underwater, feeling snakes slithering over our arms, or living as the opposite sex a few centuries back in time?

How do these dreams relate to our life today?

There’s an argument for simply enjoying the sensual adventure and wonder of dreams when they’re good experiences. A friend once told me that analysis would rob him of the magic of his dreams. He looked forward to living a different and exciting life each night from the safety of his bed.

But the argument doesn’t hold so well when those nightly adventures get dark and scary and repetitive, when you wake up in an anxious sweat and feel far from refreshed to begin a new day.

If you’re a regular listener to The Dream Show, you’ll know the advantages of analysing your dreams, the good ones and the scary ones, while still retaining a sense of magic, excitement, awe, and wonder for the experiences you have while dreaming. I’ve been analysing dreams for 23 years – mine as well as my clients – and I still eagerly await the magical experiences of my dreams each night.

In this episode we explore the connection between our unusual dream experiences and our waking life.

We (lightly, as always) take in some philosophy, some alchemy, some historical perspective, and then get really practical by dipping into my book, Dream Alchemy, to look at the tools it gives you, and how to use them, working with the example of that common dream theme where you’re unprepared for an exam or presentation.

Karen is my guest with a scary dream about trying to stay in control of her car. She notices the fuel is low, but how low exactly? Has she got enough petrol to get home or is she close to running on empty? Her body is in the driver’s seat but suddenly her mind is floating above the car, and she can’t drive from up there. But she has to, somehow. Or does she?

Every dream is unique, but if you’ve ever had an out of control car or driving dream and wondered what it meant, you’ll find plenty of clues in this podcast.

In this episode we dance with synchronicity, in both a light-hearted and deeply exploring way. Oh, and we relate it to dreams on many levels. When was the last time you experienced synchronicity? What happened? How did it make you feel?

A synchronicity is a coincidence or series of coincidences that are not really coincidences at all. A coincidence is a chance thing, but a synchronicity feels far too meaningful to be due to chance alone. Typically you are completely puzzled by what the synchronicity means even though it feels amazingly meaningful.

Listen in as I share three stories and extracts from three of my books to throw some light on the nature of synchronicity and give tips on how to respond when it happens to you.
