In her words: "I am a military veteran. I have been through abuse, divorce, as well low self-esteem and I am still standing." Scott is a business owner and creative on many levels. Poetry first found Scott in his late teens when he fell in love with a closet hobby that allowed him to express himself in a whole new way and rise to the point of being a featured poet in New Jersey.

 He laid his pen down and stepped away from his creative flow to join the United States Marine Corps where he served for four years and then returned to his hometown to become a police officer where he served for five years until he retired due to injury. Over two decades after laying down his pen he rediscovered his poetic passions through the clubhouse app. Scott originally joined clubhouse to further his global business consulting firm however he found people such as Melikia K. Courtney and Nate Sr. that help draw out his creativity and provide spaces that allowed his passion to take root once again. 

Now Father Time runs the club Partners In Rhyme which hosts an open mike once a week every Friday night at 8 pm est called Lyrical Vibes which both he and Melikia moderate together. You can also find Father Time in the Improv poetry room every Thursday at 7 pm est brought to you by Nate Sr. Scott's life journey to this point has been filled with many twists and turns and definitely would not be your typical story.

In today's episode of Poetry Talks, we discuss Gary L. Cox's latest book with the author himself. Gary has published three poetry books, The Waters of Appanoose County, Beyond the Waters, and Coffee with the Bard:2020 Blues. Garry's collection of poems speaks to all readers' souls as he shares about love, loss, compassion, concern, and hope.

Garry, a retired teacher, worked extensively teaching English, Reading, and Writing Proficiency at Junior High, High School, Adult Education, and Community College for both native English speakers and English as Second Language Learners.

He was also a teacher, administrator, and award-winning creator of reading-based Edu-Dramas for Rio Salado College Adult Education Program and also for The Detroit Board of Education.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Lend me your ears as I recap 2021 and send some love to past guests of Poetry Talks' first year. Our guests included poets of every type from the visual artist, to the musician, the spoken word artist, and literary poet.  Each guest shared some of their work and the stories behind their craft and for some guests how they came to poetry.  This diverse guestlist gave me to opportunity to learn that poetry comes from all walks of lif and so do the writing habits.
