This Sunday, March 8th, we’ll continue in our series called, “From Death to Life”. This week we will unpack Ephesians 2:8-10. I’m really excited to be able to share with you what our response to all that God has done to save us, should be. This could change your life forever.

Here’s what’s happening at Westside...

• Time Change Weekend... Don’t forget to set your clocks ahead 1 hr. before you go to bed tonight. We don’t want anyone to miss what God’s up too.

• WS Kids Sunday Morning Worship: Join us each and every Sunday morning for an amazing WS Kids Worship time!! This is for kids in K-5th grade. Please be in prayer for this and feel free to reach out to volunteer in our Kid's Ministry!

• Community Groups: Sunday morning @ 9am in the 3rd-5th grade room... Sunday after the worship service in the worship center... Wednesday night @ 6:30pm at the church...

• Youth Inc Middle School Lock-Out: On March 13th-14th, come join us as we travel throughout the night to one fun destination after the other! Our journey begins at CiCi's pizza, then we head to a trampoline park, ice skating is third and we wrap the night/morning up with a movie! This is a MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY EVENT! The cost is $30 and can be paid at the door.

• Pancakes and PJ’S... Join us for our next “Westside Family Hangout” on March 15th from 5 - 6:30pm. This will be a great night of fun, food and fellowship.

Hey Westside...

This Sunday, March 1st, we’ll continue in our series called, “From Death to Life”. I’m really excited to be able to share with you a message on “baptism”. We’ll unpack 4 important questions that people tend to ask, the most important one is, “Why do I need to be baptized?”

Here’s what’s happening at Westside...

· WS Kids Sunday Morning Worship: Join us each and every Sunday morning for an amazing WS Kids Worship time!! This is for kids in K-5th grade. Please be in prayer for this and feel free to reach out to volunteer in our Kid's Ministry!

· Food Drive: We are still collecting groceries or gift cards to help those families in need. You can drop your stuff off at the Welcome desk.

· Community Groups: Sunday morning @ 9am in the 3rd-5th grade room... Sunday after the worship service in the worship center... Wednesday night @ 6:30pm at the church...

· Women’s Bible Study: Tuesday, March 3rd, @ 6:45pm...

2020-02-23 - From Death to Life - Week 01

New Sermon Series Begins This Sunday, "From Death to Life"...

After the movie, “The Passion of Christ” came out, a lady by the name of Madeleine Evans wrote... “Personally...I have no problem believing what Jesus did, but I want no responsibility for it. I will pay for my own sins...after all...I usually do...thank you very much. I would never want anyone to go through so much suffering for me.”

Like so many people today, she didn’t understand the depths of her sin if she thought she could in any way pay for them. You see, to think that we could pay the penalty for our own sin to the point that God would accept our efforts, is an idea that is totally foreign to what the Bible teaches. The problem is, there’s a difference in how we view our sin and how God views it and what we have to understand is, God’s view is the one that counts.

In Ephesians 2:1-7, Paul tells us this important truth; “You can’t save you, but Jesus can!” That’s why, starting this Sunday morning, February 23rd, we begin a new 6-week series called, “From Death to Life”. We’ll discover, not only what God has done to take us from death to life, but we’ll also discover what our response to this new life should be.

I hope that you’ll make the next 6-weeks a priority on your Sunday morning schedule. And don’t forget to bring someone with you.

Hey all...

We had another amazing Sunday last week. If you couldn’t be here, Bradley and Sonja Medford made Westside their home and we got to watch as Bradley baptized Sonja into Jesus. It was awesome! God just keeps doing some pretty awesome things through us here at Westside and I’m thankful that He called me to be a part of His amazing work. It’s going to be so exciting to see what He has in store for us on Sunday.

This week we will end our series through Psalm 23 as we look at verse 6 (NCV), “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” This one verse is packed with enough amazing stuff to change your outlook as well as the rest of your life. I can’t wait to unpack all that it has for us.

2020-02-09 - Finding Hope in the Struggles of Life - Week 05

Hey all...

We had another amazing Sunday last week. God just keeps doing some pretty awesome things through us here at Westside and I’m thankful that He called me to be a part of His amazing work. It’s going to be so exciting to see what He has in store for us tomorrow.

This week we will continue unpacking Psalm 23 as we look at verses 4-5 (NCV), “Even if I walk through a very dark valley, I will not be afraid, because you are with me. Your rod and your shepherd’s staff comfort me. You prepare a meal for me in front of my enemies.” The reality of life is this; the world we live in can be a very dark, scary and stormy place to live. But in spite of that, I believe God wants to remind us that in the midst of the scary storms and dark valleys of life...hope is found in Jesus, our Shepherd. Every week of this series has been amazing but this week, is one you don’t want to miss. You may not be going through a valley right now, but I guarantee you that you will at some point. It’s a part of life. Also, you probably know someone who is, so reach out and invite them to come with you. I can’t wait to unpack this with you tomorrow morning @ 10am.

• Our new “Community Group” got off to a great start last week. They meet on Sunday mornings @ 9am. If you haven’t got plugged into a group yet, this would be a great one to start with.

2020-02-02 - Finding Hope in the Struggles of Life - Week 04

Hey Westside...

Guess what God did? He blew us away again. Another full house, more new people, and an incredible worship service. It’s going to be so exciting to see what He has in store for us this Sunday.

This week we will continue unpacking Psalm 23 as we look at the last part of verse 3, “He guides me along the right paths for His namesake.” Now, this tells me 2 things; first of all, there is a right path that we are to be on and secondly, it’s not about us but it’s about Him. He’s the one who is supposed to get all the glory. I can’t wait to unpack this short phrase with you this Sunday morning.

Here’s what’s happening at Westside...

· Our new “Community Group” begins this Sunday morning February 2nd @ 9am. If you haven’t got plugged into a group yet, this would be a great one to start with.

· Our “Tuesday Night Ladies Bible” will be meeting this coming Tuesday night at 6:45pm. There’s still room for you to get plugged in.

· WS Students: Every Wednesday for the next 6 weeks, we will travel as a youth group to join Jefferson, Poplar Springs, & First Christian youth groups for a Wednesday night service. It will be fun games and a short lesson about the Grow devotions we are going through. We will leave Westside @ 6:30 PM and return between 8:30 PM.

· There’s still time to get plugged into one of our other “Community Groups” as well. Besides our new one, we have one that meets right after the morning service at the back of the worship center and a Wednesday night group that meets at the church at 6:30pm.

Author Philip Yancey says that, “adversities”, “hardships and the “struggles of life” are “the gifts nobody wants.” And just the thought of these, can create fear, tension and stress that at times...is hard to overcome. Unfortunately, this is the reality that we all live in today. Sometimes we are going to go through times of struggles and adversities where our faith will be tested, and we will wonder if God is on vacation. And whether you want to believe me or not, even though that’s how we feel, we can still find hope.

In fact, there’s a great example of this in the Old Testament from the life of David. During a dark season of life, when his son was trying to take his life, David discovered hope. It was during this time that he wrote Psalm 23 and his hope was found as he wrote verse 1... “The Lord is my Shepherd; I have everything I need!”

This Sunday morning January 12th, we’re going to begin a 6-week journey called, “Finding Hope in the Struggles of Life”. This journey will hopefully help us to change how we respond to life’s struggles as we dive deeply into the depths of Psalm 23.

Let me encourage you to get the word out and invite friends, family, co-workers, the guy or gal on the street...actually anyone and everyone you meet.

Can't wait to dive into this amazing Psalm.
