Points and Penalties is back with a full roster and it showed!!! As we get into more than just football this week with the NBA trade deadline. A massive trade between Division Rivals sending the Beard away for a man that has not played a game yet this year and few other notable players. Raptors stuck their toe in the water but of course the boys will give their thoughts on it.
The Olympics are back after less than a year away for the winter sports. More COVID issues in the Canada and ROC women's hockey game as Canada had quite the delay getting on the ice. Once they reached the ice the Canadian ladies took care of business.
NFL Honors happen on a Thursday night instead of the usual day before the Super Bowl and the teams in the big game so their players take home some hardware.
We have a penalty box worthy NHLer that continuously gets suspended. The guys try and figure out if he is worth the risk of having him on your favourite team.
The P&P MVP has one of the best live fan reactions ever for acing a hole and in our penalty box we have a youngster that forgot there is a shot clock.
Our show is short a host this week as one of us, who shall not be named, forgot that a working internet connection is useful for recording a zoom podcast... but no need to worry, the other mainstays are all here and picking up the slack.
The guys start off with a scandal in the NFL and allegations of racist hiring practices. Filled with sham interviews, texts from Belichick and tampering on a yacht cruise you wont want to miss the guys deep dive into the Flores lawsuit.
The NFL isn't the only pro football league up for discussion today, the guys talk about a new partnership in the CFL and if it will usher in a new era of success for the Canadian league or if more changes are needed to save the CFL.
Back South of the border, the greatest to ever play in the NFL retires... but really this time... no seriously. Although most of us never liked him, it's hard to argue that he was the GOAT, the guys give their thoughts on if he was just the greatest QB or the best NFL player in general to ever play.
Although the GOAT retired, others continue to build their legacy. The guys weigh in on the upcoming Rams - Bengals Superbowl picking their winners (you'll be SHOCKED by Jesse's pick) and they give a hot take each that they see happening this game.
Heard enough about the NFL? Well too bad! Our penalty box stays on theme as The Football Team is no more but we knew that early as the lackluster effort made in hiding the new name of Washington's Football team took the drama out of the planned epic name reveal, the guys also weigh in on what nicknames the new name will bring.
All is not lost if you aren't a fan of football, our MVP for the week is a young star making his mark on the court and tying franchise records in the six.
Era's come to an end in Pittsburgh and New Orleans as two of the NFL's prominent names step away from the game. The guys discuss what's next for Big Ben and Sean Payton, and how their teams will cope with losing their talents.
A new proposal in baseball considers making a change to have a sudden death overtime, score and you win, fail to score and you lose. The guys give their thoughts on this potential change to baseball rules and what it would mean for the game. But that's not the only baseball banter in this week's show, Big Papi is officially a hall of famer! Where does that leave the rest of the prominent players wrapped up in the PED scandal? The guys discuss if they will ever make the hall and if they deserve to be there.
Baseball's OT rules aren't the only ones up for discussion in today's show. The guys discuss the epic Bills - Chiefs playoff game from last weekend and whether the NFL OT rules are fair or if they should be tweaked to give both offenses a chance with the ball.
The NHL gets a new ironman as a record over 30 years old is broken and another NHL team (allegedly) makes the penalty box as they consider a new building with less capacity than many AHL & CHL teams!
Playoffs?! We're talkin about Playoffs?! Are you kiddin me?!
That's right the NFL playoffs are here and the King is back in Tennessee in with the AFC's leading Titans. He looked more like a prince in this one though as the Titans get knocked off in a game where he ran for well under his usual rate. The Titans weren't the only number one seed to fall this weekend as the Packers get ousted on the NFC side, was this the last game of the Rodger's era in Lambeau?
Maybe both teams could have used an upgrade at safety? Apparently, Jake Paul could play safety in the NFL... according to Jake Paul. We won't be holding our breath for that one to happen, but we might see Paul fight in the UFC. Listen to what Dana White has to say about that. The guys also weigh in on who they think Paul should fight, no spoilers but one of them has a face tattoo...
Christine Sinclair, soccer's all-time leader in international goal scoring (men or women) gets honoured again winning the Best FIFA Special Award. The guys weigh in on her astounding career and debate whether or not she is the GOAT of female soccer players.
The Leafs are at it again, the guys recap big leads they have blown since the epic collapse against Boston in game 7 in 2013 and the trend of blowing leads they find themselves in this season. Is it going to cause another early first round exit in the long run this season? The guys talk about what could be done to fix it.
Don't forget to check out this week's MVP & Penalty box, our MVP achieved a rare feat on the ice, while some bad situational awareness led to another disappointing end to a season in our penalty box.
This week the guys are still playing shorthanded. Pete was away as he became Papa Pete! Congratulations! The other usual suspects will have to get the job done without him.
Leading off on S2 Episode 2, Rachel Balkovec and the Yankees make history, she is now a pro manager. Get the details and find out what the guys think,
Hitting in the two spot this week, the NFL coaching vacancies. Listen in for the guys thoughts. Were some fired without getting a fair shake at things? The P&P boys give you their opinions and also shake their crystal ball and take a stab at where some coaches could land next season.
In the three hole for this episode the guys talk about a controversial OT goal in the NHL. Yosh learns there was a rule adjustment a couple years ago that is in relation to this goal. He was not happy about this rule change, find out what's up on episode 2.
Batting clean up, and did they ever clean up. May as well say they hit a grand slam. The Buffalo Bills offence was dominant in the Wild Card round in their defeat versus a division rival. Get the run down here!
Don't forget about the weekly MVP and penalty box!!
We are back for Season 2 of Points and Penalties!! Is the reigning champ giving head start for the season or being slacker? Either way the rest of the boys will have you cover for the season 2 premier.
Find out our favourite sports moment of 2021. Two from a sport that does not get much recognition on P&P.
We start another season by honouring another legend that has left us, the late great John Madden. Other than Kev we never got to see Coach Madden live, as most of us remember as broadcaster and the face of the "Madden NFL" video-game franchise.
Covid attacked the World Juniors when Canada had a promising team led by the number one overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft. Do these Canadians have a big future in the NHL?
The first MVP of season 2 is a former player that helped get the Raptors their first Larry O'Brien trophy by being traded.
TFC!! TFC!! Huge record breaking signing as they try to get back to their winning ways by bringing in another Italian.
The penalty box is full after a few weeks with another tantrum by AB, an inebriated ump, and a ref that can't handle a soft toss.
Season one has come to an end. 47 episodes of sports talk and opinions. The guys are playing short handed for the final episode of the season as Kevin is away. Not to worry though, Jesse, Josh and Peter have got you covered.
Episode 47 starts with some fire. Not the fire you are thinking of, a firing. Urban Meyer is out as Jags head coach. Looks like Pete's hot (lukewarm) take is at least right for now. Cooper Kupp is having a hell of a year, will he take home a baseball prize?
The NBA has some cocky or confident players. Probably none more so than the ANT. Is he as good as he thinks he is? The boys discuss. Are the Cleveland Cavaliers championship contenders or pretenders? Jesse, Josh and Peter give their opinion's on the surprising start to the Cav's season and they tell you where they will finish when all is said and done.
Paul Maurice resigns? He quits? WTF? This is definitely odd. Listen in to episode 47 to hear what the guys think about this rarity. Ovi is making more strides to history. What record is he approaching now? The NHL as well as NBA and NFL is being riddled by Covid 19. The guys give you the latest on the new protocols going forward.
Mot much doing in the MLB. The Mets have hired a new manager. Does the P&P crew think it is a good hire? Also find out how good or bad the Mets will do this season after this hiring as well as with all the new faces in New York.
Jake Paul, is he a legit boxer? The guys aren't 100% sold. Especially if he fights an actual boxer. Tiger Woods is back. Find out how he and his partner did in his first action since his car accident in February.
Listen to episode 47, the season finale to hear about all this and more including This weeks MVP and penalty boxes.
See you in the new year!
The Points and Penalties first season is drawing to a conclusion next week. The guys say goodbye to Kevin until season 2 in the new year. Unfortunately unless Josh loses 9 challenges next week Kevin will finish in 4th for P&P points. All the guys are ready to start fresh in the new year.
Episode 46 starts off on a somber note as the P&P crew talks DT, Demaryius Thomas and his passing at 33 years old. The guys also mourn the Bills run defense as they take a beating from their biggest rivals. The boys all choose their NFL MVP and they go over last weeks lock of the week.
The Houston Rockets have made history in the four major North American sports. Check out episode 46 to find out what they did, The week was full of records being broken or players moving up on an all time list. Can you guess which players the guys are talking about?
Did you see that pass? This weeks amazing play in the NHL was well...amazing. Hear what the guys have to say about Trevor Zegras. A goalie retires and a franchise gets a new interim GM and a new head coach. Do the guys like these hires?
Not much doing in the MLB, a handful of old-time ball players will be inducted into the Hall of Fame for the class of 2022.
This weeks other sports is jam packed. From NWHL, CFL, MLS, NCAAF and so much more. Be sure to check out Points and Penalties episode 46 to get your weeks fill of our opinions in sports.
We're a man down in episode 45, Pete is driving to Newfoundland to witness the birth of his first born child or something like that... dude needs to get his priorities straight! Not to worry Josh, Jesse & kev have it covered.
A mid season firing and a conditional draft pick that's about to be secured from a previous blockbuster trade kicks off the NFL segment. Then the race for the top and the bottom of the lock of the week gets a little closer. Could anyone still win the lock of the week? Mathematically yes, realistically... it's a two horse race.
On the hardcourt, the Warriors beat the red hot Suns to start the year at 18-2 and are off to their best start since the 73-9 season in 15-16 that they lost in the finals to Cleveland, is this a bad omen for Josh's Larry O'Brien winner prediction? Probably not, since they matched their first 20 record from the 14-15 season in which they won it all. It's not all fun and games through the NBA though, as the league cracks down on the Bulls & Heat for violating free agency timing rules, does the punishment fit the crime?
An entire team takes the MVP this week, and they aren't even the best team in the league... far from it as a matter of fact.
The great eight hits a major milestone on the road to Gretzky's goals record and seems to be getting better and better in his old age. Player safety hands out a few deserved suspensions and the Leafs away winning streak comes to an end but Papi is heating up and has his own streak going.
More signings and trades as the MLB enters a lockout for the first time since 94-95... the Jays would have three peated that year, you know it's true! The guys gaze into ye olde crystal ball and let you know when the lockout is going to end. But that's not the only ball being used, turns out the MLB used two different balls this season.
A few games in the NWHL start off the other sports this week, but the big stories are on the gridiron this week 100 and 110 yard fields. Collegiate level championship games were held in the NCAA this weekend as we discuss the winners in each conference and up North the Ti-Cats will have home field advantage as the Gray cup matchup is set against the Blue Bombers.

Will the Suns match the franchise record for consecutive wins? They are one win away, but they are in tough to get it done. Lebron is back in the news. Surprise, surprise.
Now Hiring!! Get your resume ready, the Canadiens have some job openings. The Islanders may have a new stadium but they have also got a case of the VID (as Kev would say). In the NHL you can throw a punch but can't throw a glove, plus so much more. Listen in to episode 44.
In the MLB there are a bunch of new faces in new cities. Find out who is sporting a new uniform and get the boys opinions on some of the bigger signings.
