Today Jesse and I welcome our friend Steven to talk Pokémon Indigo League Episode 6, "Clefairy & The Moon Stone!" Steven's experience with Pokémon is very unique from ours, so it was great to have his fun perspective on this particularly strange episode! We share some concerns about Pokémon battle boundaries and rules, Seymour the Scientist's strange thoughts and antics, and a surprisingly frustrating in-game dungeon.

Today Jesse and I bring back Ian to talk Pokémon Indigo League Episode 5, "Showdown in Pewter City!" Sure the episode has some issues - electricity in this universe is managed carelessly, and we're starting to sense that Ash won't be any better at gym battles than he is at actually catching Pokémon - but we're turning a corner toward more consistent action in every episode!

Today Jesse and I bring our friend Ian onboard to discuss Pokémon Indigo League Episode 4, Challenge of the Samura (a.k.a. that outrageous kid that approaches strangers in the forest with a katana)! Though the episode itself is pretty frustrating because Ash still sucks at his job and that Samurai kid is out of his mind, Viridian Forest represents something of a turning point in the original games, and there's even a little correlation to the manga.

Neil is back (actually we never left, because we pre-recorded this, and I'm big on being transparent) to talk about episode three, when we continue exploring exactly why and precisely how Ash sucks so bad at his job.

Today Jesse and I bring our friend Neil in the mix to discuss Pokémon Indigo League Episode 2! The episode introduces numerous tropes that are pivotal to our early Pokémon experience! More importantly, it also gave us the opportunity to try livestreaming our recording to Twitch which, other than forgetting that free-version Zoom meetings can only last 40 minutes, went fairly well!

Today, my friend Jesse and I tried our hand at a pilot for an episodic Pokemon podcast, directly inspired by my existing "Avatar: The Last Podcasters" work with The Objective Geek, and by Jesse's love for discussing all-things-late-90s-anime! This week we talk about the origins of our love for Pokemon, a very brief history leading up to the anime, the very first episode, and the first fraction of the games and western manga!
