This week Shawn welcomes special guest Neil Guman back to the show to sit in for Jesse this week and next. (Have patience with our wild holiday schedules, we beg you!) It’s a good episode to have Neil’s cool head present, though, as it’s an absolutely outrageous nightmare of a 20-minute chunk of children’s cartoon. It’s the PokéMalarkey review of Pokémon Indigo League Episode 16: Pokémon Shipwreck!

Now that it's only been out for like a year, and Shawn's only had it for like 4 months, he finally tried Pokémon Shield for the Nintendo Switch! So for this week's episode of PokéMalarkey, Shawn and Jesse offer their review of the game (or, in Shawn's case, since he's played for all of 2 hours, really just first impressions).

What? We actually managed to record regular episodes in back-to-back weeks? Yes, indeed, because we recorded them back-to-back, naturally. Which makes sense because Pokémon Indigo League Episode 14 "Battle Aboard The St. Anne!" is very closely tied to Vermillion City, and there's even some interesting flip-flopping of the lore in the manga and games! In a perfect world we'd record all three St. Anne episodes together, but 16 and 17 will make a fine pairing next time.

In their first standard episode in what seems like weeks, Jesse and Shawn go solo (duo?) to discuss a very nostalgic episode for both; Pokémon Indigo League Episode 14 "Electric Pokémon Showdown!" But, as always, not without several tangents about alcohol, being good people, and relatively interesting manga and video game tie-in moments!
