Law Enforcement Talk: True Crime and Trauma Stories

Police Officer Military Veteran's Journey

Listen Later

Police Military Veteran and their Journey To Recovery. Special Episode. Many don't talk about the suicide epidemic with our Police Officers, and Military Veterans. Trauma, PTSD, Depression and the effects it has on our first responders is a subject that is still taboo for many people.

Meet Matt Griffin, Police Military Veteran, a dedicated individual with a unique background as both a former Police Officer and a US Navy Veteran, specializing in undercover narcotics investigations and serving as a Search and Rescue Swimmer. His journey has been one of resilience, from the depths of PTSD, depression, and thoughts of suicide to a remarkable recovery.

In the throes of exhaustion and despair, Matt, once on the brink of scheduled suicide at midnight, openly shares the profound impact of stress and trauma on his life. The unraveling of his marriage and mental health became inevitable under the weight of these challenges. The tragic suicide of a police co-worker, mentor, and friend further intensified his struggle. Police Military Veteran shares his story and recovery.

However, Matt's story takes a positive turn as he delves into his path of recovery, meticulously rebuilding his life. His newfound passion and purpose emerged from a commitment to helping others facing similar battles. Matt's compelling narrative is encapsulated in his book, "Journey to Midnight," where he intricately details his experiences and the steps he took to overcome adversity.

Today, Police Military Veteran Matt Griffin stands as a beacon of hope, using his unique blend of law enforcement and military expertise to inspire and assist those grappling with trauma, PTSD, and depression. Through his book and personal mission, he aims to extend a lifeline to others, showcasing that even in the darkest moments, recovery is possible.
