Headline Day with Mary brings a lot to talk about as we head into the Summer season. What will the warmer months bring, “more or less”? Water is becoming scarcer in some places, and with that farming issues which never occur in a vacuum, but cause a domino effect of crop issues and human misery. Climate change? Geoengineering? Does anyone really understand any of it – but the bible has plenty to say. We also look at the Bronx bombshell of a rally, the death of the Super Size Soda guy, twisters, and an aging Klaus Schwab who will seemingly go to his grave with delusions of grandeur about our ever-shrinking globe and everything in it. Less is more, when it comes to deception, spin, and bad guys, more or less.

Moody, Thinking Christian: Essays on Testimony, Accountability, and the Christian Mind; and he contributed to The Moody Bible Commentary,  and The Moody Encyclopedia of Messianic Prophecy.  His latest book, Serpents and Doves, is a thoughtful guide for Christians who may wish to engage in politics but not lose sight of bearing witness to Jesus, and our unique task of pointing to and glorifying God. Christians are often at odds not only about general political engagement, but whether or not to even bother to vote. And of course, politics should never divide churches or families, but all too often this is the case. An informative hour addressing tough questions.

Moody Center, talks to Mary Danielsen about balancing politics with the Great Commission and what it means to find our identity in Christ. More and more, Christians are allowing politics to shape their worldview and the practices of the church, causing divisions among the brethren. There may come a time that we need to ask ourselves if we have become disciples of a particular political tribe rather than disciples of Christ – at the very least measurable in the amount of time we spend on either.

In his thoughtful article, “Render to God what is God’s: Reflecting Christ in Politics”, James says, “When God’s people take up causes, we run the risk of those causes distorting our vision of God. We run the risk of justifying our pursuit of the cause by making the cause an idol and tying God to it. When this happens, we no longer act as if we believe that His ways are beyond our ways, or that His thoughts are beyond our thoughts. God conforms to us. We then determine how the problems we face must be solved and God no longer directs. He becomes a resource rather than a ruler.”   Join us for a timely chat on what it means to count all things loss for the excellence of knowing Christ.

We welcome back pastor and author JB Hixson to discuss both the necessity of and how to study the Scriptures, our great treasure. The many arguments that the bible is a work of man utterly falls apart when we understand how the bible tells the truth about the human race. No work of man would ever condemn the sinner to hell and judgment, and by a God Who can be known. We will look at some of the definitions for proper interpretation such as “hermeneutics” and “exegesis”. What does it mean that the Word is sharper than a two edged sword, able to pierce the division of soul and spirit? Why do we need cross-references, commentaries? And finally, how and why to apply it all. We will also discuss the concept of “worldliness” and what it means. Is it a list of things we do or do not do? What does God mean when He says that loving this world is enmity with Him?

He speaks nationwide about God in Government, apologetics, prophecy, and Biblical Worldview issues. Paul serves on the Board of Directors for Bott Radio, and the Oklahoma Apologetics Alliance.

Paul Blair was drafted by the Chicago Bears in 1986 playing under Coach Mike Ditka and alongside Hall of Famers Walter Payton, Dan Hampton, and Mike Singletary. At the age of 37, Paul Blair was called into full-time ministry. His passion is for the salvation of souls and also the restoration of Godly morality and decency in America. 

In 2008, Pastor Blair was one of the original 33 pastors that worked with the Alliance Defense Fund on Pulpit Freedom Sunday challenging the constitutionality of the 1954 Johnson Amendment. The number of pastors participating has increased every year since with over 1600 participating in 2012. Following the 2012 Pulpit Freedom Sunday, the IRS admitted that churches are tax exempt and do not require approval or a letter of exemption from the IRS.

Mary Danielsen chats with Russ Miller of Creation, Evolution and Science Ministries (CESM) in the first half about how rampant deception begins with turning away from the simplicity of the true gospel. With so much biblical illiteracy in the church, more people at looking at fictional representations and “what is right in their own eyes” to make a Jesus in their own image. Using the text of 2 Corinthians 11:3-4, we learn of Paul’s concerns that his readers (including this generation) would find themselves beguiled and bewitched just as Eve was and their/our minds would be corrupted. We will look at some of the ways this can and will happen at an increasingly rapid rate. Are we willing to tell people that they “have the wrong Jesus” and explain what that means? It’s not just the cults, such as Mormonism, that have the wrong Jesus.

In the 2nd half of the podcast Mary will look at some headlines about a variety of issues we are facing here in early 2024.
