Not a sound or a soul at the Waitangi Treaty grounds today.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the event's been held virtually to commemorate 182 years since the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Waitangi National Trust Board Chair Pita Tipene told the Weekend Collective they don't regret the decision
He says it was a good chance to do something a bit different.
“And instead of being busy and having a buzz in the air, people are able to step back, think and reflect carefully on what Te Tiriti o Waitangi, The Treaty of Waitangi, means for this country.”
