  • The Divided Kingdom
This sermon examines the historical decline of the divided kingdoms of Israel and Judah, tracing their trajectory from the glory of Solomon to the final exile under Babylon. It highlights how persistent idolatry and rejection of God's prophets led to divine judgment, yet emphasizes that God remained sovereign over the nations, using Assyria and Babylon as instruments of chastisement. The message underscores the faithfulness of God to His covenant with David, preserving the messianic line through figures like Josiah and ultimately pointing to the virgin birth of Jesus as the fulfillment of royal promises. The tone is instructional and comforting, assuring believers that God controls history and political outcomes, inviting them to rest in His supreme authority and grace.

The response directed him to Wikipedia which stated, "The term deep state refers to an unauthorized, hidden network of power that operates within a government independently of its elected leaders to pursue its own goals." It went on to say as to its core, "It describes unelected state officials, bureaucrats, or military and intelligence personnel who supposedly influence or control government policy behind the scenes. In yet another place it refers to the deep state as being a political conspiracy theory that "posits the existence of a deep state within the US federal government, primarily composed of members of the FBI and CIA. Proponents argue that a clandestine network of conspirators within the leadership of the financial and industrial sectors exercise power alongside or within the elected government."

  • Trust in the Lord
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. (Proverbs 3:5) *1/ The LORD God of Israel in whom we trust. 2/ What we are to trust him for. 3/ How we are to show that trust.* **Sermon summary:** The sermon explores the command to trust in the Lord with all one's heart, using King Hezekiah as a primary example of exclusive reliance on the God of Israel. It distinguishes between trusting in the true God of the Bible and placing faith in idols, human understanding, or political alliances like Egypt. The exposition outlines three areas of trust: God's sovereign providence over daily life, His specific plan of salvation through Jesus Christ, and His ongoing work in sanctifying and keeping believers. The preacher emphasizes that genuine trust is evidenced by obedience to Scripture, the diligent use of means such as prayer and the Word, and a steadfast hope that rests solely in Jehovah rather than in self-reliance.
