  • TV Roundup 2022 (Best TV So Far and other shows)

    Send us Fan Mail

Welcome back to PCBV! On this episode we drink wine, gin, and talk tv.
First, we start off with Los Angeles River Company 2021 Heart of Sand Blanc.  The wine is made up of big-berried Mission, Rose of Peru, Muscat, of Alexandria, Grenache Gris, and Grenache Noir. The grapes were harvested together, foot-stomped, and then pressed and fermented.  Next, we continued our gin journey with Mulholland Gin from Mulholland Distillery.  This gin was a Top 10 gin by Wine Enthusiast and has notes of cucumber, juniper, and citrus.

On this episode we discuss our favorite tv shows of 2022, so far, and some honorable mentions.  Listen to us talk about This Fool, Reservation Dogs, Severance, Single Drunk Female, Barry, The Minx, and others.

On today's episode we talk about Netflix's The Gray Man starring Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, and Ana de Armas.  To lubricate the convo we enjoy Botanivore Gin from St. George Spirits.

Even when the movie fails, gin is there to lift your spirits.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Scotland: Travel and Tribulations

    Send us Fan Mail

Welcome back and thanks for sticking with us!

This episode is a bit of an outlier as it mostly details the recent trip to Scotland of one of your hosts.

This episode we drink Odysee a 2020 Zinfandel by Vin de California.  The wine took us on an interesting journey and is worth a taste.  We'd suggest drinking it lightly chilled and let it breathe a bit.

  • Rosé All Day

    Send us Fan Mail

We are back today with more Rosé and deep conversation.
We were able to get our hands on a bottle of the Bon Jovi Rose, Hampton Water, that kicked off the last rosé episode.   We also compare it to past favourite, "Pretty Boy" Nero d'Avola Rosato from Delinquent Wine Co.
In this episode we talk the latest Jack White tour and then delve into some tv talk (Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Conversations with Friends, Under the Banner of Heaven, and We Own the City).
Come for the wine, stay for the buzz.

    Thanks for listening!

  • Crazy...Ben Fong-Torres and Rolling Stone Magazine

    Send us Fan Mail

On today's episode we open a bottle of Broc Cellar's 2021 Amore Blendo.  This is a red table wine made from Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Sauvignon Blanc, Dolcetto, and a dash of Trebbiano.  A cool thing about this wine is that it was co-fermented, meaning the grapes were fermented together whole cluster.

Next up we review "Like a Rolling Stone:  The Life and Times of Ben Fong-Torres."  A documentary about famed music writer and editor for Rolling Stone Magazine.  Check it out on Netflix.

We also dive into a discussion about Rolling Stone Magazine itself and other fun tangents into George Harrison, criticism, the AV Club, and John Mulaney.

Hope you enjoy and remember to recommend us to your pals!

On this episode we pop open a Saison de Madre from the Long Beach Beer Lab.  It's described as a French table beer and tastes a bit like a Belgian beer.

Press play and enjoy a review of Big Thief's new album and a quick live review of their recent show at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.

    Thanks for listening!

  • The 90s Revisited (and some Piquette)

    Send us Fan Mail

On today's episode we talk about what we've been up to and then dive into the 90s, a time period some consider to be the greatest generation.

Our conversation today was partly kindled by an op-ed piece in the LA Times by 90s child star Rider Strong where he opines on the 90s after having attended 90s Con.

To keep the talk going we enjoyed a piquette from The Marigny (OR).

If you are unfamiliar with some of the shows or topics discussed, we urge you to Google (or search engine of choice) the thing.  But here a few links to the good stuff like the Animaniacs and The Adventures of Pete and Pete.

Also, here is a longer form article that may interest from W magazine.

Thanks for listening and make sure to tell people about us!

PS:  Here are the wineries mentioned at the top of the episode:
Skyenna Wines - Rhone Varietals From Santa Barbara County
    Municipal Winemakers

  • Ep 9 - Saison Sessions: Bloc Party and Hazy Monsters

    Send us Fan Mail

On this episode of Saison Sessions, we dig into Ogopogo Brewing's Peryton Hazy IPA.  I got this at the brewery in a 32 oz crowler for freshness.  If you are in the San Gabriel area or like traveling to different brewery's, give them a try.

Also, we discuss Bloc Party's new album "Alpha Games."

    Thanks for listening!
