Summary:

Have you ever felt that being a child of God should impact your life a little bit more? In other words, why does it seem that your life with Christ isn’t all that different from a life without Christ? The reason is that we live in the tension between who we are NOW although everything has NOT YET been fully revealed.

Summary:

The human condition does not change very much, does it? Almost 2000 years ago, people were asking, what is truth? People are still asking this very same question. Even when the truth is standing right in front of us, we often fail to see it. Not only does the cross accomplish salvation but it also confounds the wisdom of the wise so that Jesus who is the TRUTH is seen for who He is.

Romans 7: 14-25

Summary:

Everyone can relate to the inner tension Paul describes in Romans 7. The question is, “How will we respond to the inner tension?” Most respond by trying to relieve the tension only to realize they are helpless. Paul, on the other hand, responds by confessing his helplessness and need for a savior.

Luke 18: 9-14

The Pharisee

Summary:

We begin Lent by believing again and again that Jesus has come for sinners. To acknowledge out sin is to also acknowledge our need for a savior. Thanks be to God that He delivers Himself in Jesus for sinners like me.

In order to be an effective Frontline Missionary, many people believe that they have to know the right presentation. They have to be an expert on every aspect of the Bible. For many, the next step is taking such knowledge and attempting to prove the Bible right, which is really proving themselves right, and the other person is wrong. The tension between knowing what to say with feeling like we have to be right forces many to abandon their role as a Frontline Missionary. Could there be a better way?

Matthew 20: 20-28

The battle in and for the home is as old as time. At POP, we believe this statement, “So goes the home so goes the Church.” God’s intent has always been for parents to be frontline missionaries in their homes and in the lives of their children. The problem today is that many parents do not feel equipped to be who God has empowered them to be in their home. We want to blame society, sports, packed schedules and anything else we can blame but ourselves. The sad reality is that the Church bears much of the blame and responsibility for weakening rather than strengthening parents as Frontline Missionaries in their home.

Deuteronomy 6: 4-9

When we think of missionaries, we tend to think of people who are salt of the earth. Simple people who gave up everything to follow the call of Jesus. We tend to think of missionaries as SUPER Christians. This perception is often a barrier for flawed sinners, which is the only kind of people there are, to see themselves as Frontline Missionaries. This message will look at one of the most flawed frontline missionaries ever – Jonah. Through this flawed frontline missionary, God’s mission to the lost and to Jonah was carried out flawlessly.

Jonah 3:1-4:11

People often point to a time in their life that changed the way they see the world and their purpose in it. For a persecutor and murderer of Christians, Jesus changed Saul to Paul on the road to Damascus. Was your Damascus road in a hospital room, an encounter with a friend, or another experience? Whether you can remember or not, all followers of Jesus have encountered the risen Savior in the waters of Baptism. And guess what, Jesus continues to meet you on the road Empowering His Frontline Missionaries.

Acts 9: 1-9; 19b-22

When we think of the “frontline,” we think of war. The frontline is not where you want to be. Our hope is that the frontline is anywhere but where we are. Is it any wonder that we tend to think of the frontline as somewhere “over there?” The truth of God’s Word, however, is that the frontline is everywhere. Our battle is not against flesh and blood (Eph. 6) and our enemy, though defeated, is determined to wage war in every part of our world, even within each one of us. This message will highlight the reality that the frontline is everywhere and that Jesus often brings the frontline to us without sending us “over there.”
