"Showtime" was since 1976 a weekly Arts and theatre radio show of the Bavarian State Radio (BR) produced/presented  my mentor Rainer Wallraf (see my last show for him  saying good-bye to him, posted earlier);

Since 1980 I was contributing as a young journalist to it.

There were two big names in journalism covering the likes of "Cats" & Co. in the 80s/90s: Rainer Wallraf (BR) and Siggi Schmid-Joos (SFB); both my mentors. I cecome No. 3  with a own show called "Antewnnen-Gala" at now RBB Antenne Brandenburg, at that time ORB.

SInce my last show 25 years have passed, and I think it´s time to present musical theatre art in a traditional way:

For my first show I selected a Dear friend of mine, who is not really a radio presenter; she is "just" famous for beimg the first ever "Grizzabella" in her spouses´ musical "CATS" in collaboration with Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. We know us all very well!

37 years of showbusiness have passed ever since.

Since 2004 Elaine Paige is hosting her personality show on music theatre at BBC Radio 2. In  2007 caused by the the death of top act, Sheridan Morley, this show  sadly has become the only Arts show remaining on BBC Radio.

But Popmundial edited a slow 2 hour show down to a 60 minutes strong presentation.

Reflecting on the fact that Elaine took on the role of "Grizzabella" in Cats  late in the rehearsal process,  when the planned actress Judi Dench had to withdraw due to a torn Achilles tendon, well, we will overcome !

In 2010/2011 I was  DJing professionally at many locations in France for Popmundilal Radio London  - including our Beach Parties with guest DJs and occassionally by myself - resident DJ at:

its the home town of the present President of France

....way back in 2010/2011

...there at "Le Pub" , a champagne bar with dance floor, me, Yours Joe, was DJing  every Friday and Saturday.
I captured some mixes as this SPCIAL ONE:

In front of Brigitte, who likes to dance,  and the future President , M. Macron, I was mixing this ! Not knowing who they were !

For unkown reasins besides many data losses,  THIS HAS SURVIVED !

The demands from the patron were: an internatal mix from Rock to Soul ! Keep the customers drinking Champagne !

Listen to the result !

Yours Joe
the producer of Popmundial

PS: these - thought to be lost files - were found recenly

A 12 hours short verson was broadcasted on New Yrs´s eve Jan 1st, 2021  from midight on Popmundial Special, for the first time on radio !

recorded LIVE on USB stick Summer 2011, Le  Pub, Le Touquet, France

THIS IS A LIVE MIX - UN-EDITED !

WELL YOU  HEAR ALL THE MIXING ERRORS BUT IT CAPTURES THE LIVE FEELING !
At least after "Chain Reaction" (special mix)  the croks were popping !

As a DJ you have access to many "special remixes" not avialble commercially: HAPPY LISTNING !

This part 1 is based on a live recording made on Sunday 3rd  - as recorded live - but with some  post-procuction re-edits now.

This is NOT a feature presentation but a musical presentation of the RIAS Tanzorchester, amongst many other names,.... - the RIAS BERLIN BIGBAND !

Formed in 1948 by  Werner Müller.

Playout is by RAY CONNIFF and the Rias Bigband - on this podcast exclusively  !

... and yes this podcats include"A Walk in the Black Forest" with the Rias Berlin Bigband !

Beach 12 of  01-10-2011 with DJ David Guyot and myself, Yours the producer Joe,
in a DJ battle
rediscovered today
live from "my living room"
and studio in Wimereux France

This episode goes more into DAB (drums and bass)
Warm-up is by myself, me presenting.

The  episode was planned as a DAB special, this why

it starts with  a mostly unknown  rap only vocal version of "Beat It" by late, great Michael Jackson

This episode is entitled "take 2", which means there must be at least a take 1, too ! I´ll keep on searching, folks !

Reflection:
this was the time and soundtrack when we did Fridays and Satudays at "Le Pub" at Le Touquet - Paris Plage, where the future M. Le President, M. Macron attended in his home town several times with high security already.

PS: I have the feeling that I hear beloved  dear friend Catherine Ferry  laughing on the background

As this show has been recorded LIVE  in front of a small (on invitation only) audience
