In today’s PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 37 of owner stories with Ben from Sheffield in the UK. Ben has owned a few Porsches over the years. Like a lot of owners he tried leaving Porsche a few times (usually to buy an M3) but always came back. Why? Well Ben loves the iconic features of Porsche especially the sound. From that first 911 Turbo with the signature Whale Tail he spotted daily on his way to school Ben knew he wanted one.

Fast forward quite a few years and Ben made that dream come true. His first Porsche was a 986 Boxster, then a while later another Boxster but this time a 987 Boxster S, updated from his first car with more power and sound. Ben said he is always looking for the next thing. Well with a E92 BMW M3 coming next due to practicality it wasn’t long before Ben was back in a Porsche. His 911 itch was scratched with a well option 997.2 Carrera 4S. So, what is Ben driving today, well he always wanted another Boxster and was always on the look-out for the pinnacle of the range – the Boxster Spyder. This may well be the best Porsche Ben has ever had.

In today’s PorscheCooled Podcast Michael and Steve chat about the  generation gap. A topic Michael only thought of 5 mins before recording. So, what’s is it all about? Well, closing the gap. What gap? The gap between the 996 and 997 generation 911 and how 991 values may increase due to the ‘butch’ 992 as Steve calls it. Tyre talk returns for a second as Marco’s yellow 996 turbo gets updated rubber .Michael now understands the ‘N” rating and why he thinks it is so important. Porsche talk continues with Michael getting distracted on his second Porsche quest with 993 Targas and the 991.2 GT3 being thrown into the mix. Oh, and what’s the 911 Steve regrets selling the most – his  993 Carrera 2.

In today’s PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 36 of owner stories with Bernard from Brisbane in Australia. From that first Porsche 911 he saw as a 7 year old to seeing the first Boxster years later. Bernard started feeling the Porsche passion at a young age. His hero / poster cars were the 993 Turbo in Arena red and the Ferrari 355. His first Porsche was at 22 when he took the plunge and purchased an iconic guards red 944S2. A well cared for and very low mileage example. He dabbled in VW’s owning a GTI as well as a few BMW’s including an M3 competition. Bernard has recently come back to Porsche, and his poster car the 911. This year he purchased a well optioned 911 Carrera 2. A 991.1 generation 911 in the rare and unique Anthracite brown.

In Bob’s words “to get the real value out of it, to really enjoy it, you have to use it.” Bob has always been into cars enjoying some iconic ones along the way including a ‘90’s BMW 325i he purchased new. His first Porsche was a 997 C4S, his second a 991.1 C4 and his latest and third 911, the 991.2 GT3. This one is no different to the other 911s Bob has owned - daily driven, road and track , and thoroughly enjoyed. That’s what I call Porsche Passion.

In today’s PorscheCooled Podcast Michael presents episode 34 of owner stories with Simon from Adelaide in Australia. Simon’s first introduction to Porsche was as a kid when his dad purchased a ‘82 Porsche 928S. Simon’s car journey started with a shared Honda, but his ‘first car’ was a Japanese import (and very rare) Toyota Supra. Fast forward a few years and Simon purchased a Lotus Exige before he purchased his first Porsche. Once he felt comfortable, Simon went all in here and bought a 996 GT3. A car which had been set up for the track by the previous owner, just what Simon wanted. Simons friends started buying 911 cup cars so that’s what eventually followed. Simon found a 03 911 (996) Cup car, a car he is still enjoying today. That’s not the end of the story. For the first couple of years Simon did not miss the road going GT3 at all, that has now changed, and he recently acquired a 996.2 GT3.

James considered an air-cooled for his first Porsche but in the end decided to go with a modern 911. Why? Well, he wanted the Porsche to be an experience not just for himself but for his family. This culminated when James decided to do a fly/drive, picking up his new 997.2 Porsche 911 Carrera 911S in Oregon. An unforgettable long way home drive with his son, creating Porsche memories for the next generation.
