A sin which is very prevalent today, is the sin of adultery. The word of God shows us how to avoid falling into such a sin and how to live a holy life.

The Lord Jesus said of John the Baptist, that he was a burning and shining light. Even though his actual public ministry was very short, nevertheless he made every day count for Christ.

The sixth commandment declares, Thou shalt not kill. This is a commandment that is broken every day by those who do not value life at all. But the day is coming when they will stand before God in the judgment, with the blood of those they have slain on their hands.

Of all the men we read about in the Scriptures, none is more Christ-like than John the Baptist. When his future father and mother were told about his coming into their lives and into their home, they were delighted, for them it was wonderful news.

The fifth commandment deals with children honouring their parents. Where God places this commandment in the Decalogue, shows the importance of honouring our parents.

The husband and wife who would become the parents of John the Baptist, were a spiritual and godly couple, they show us what all Christian parents should strive to be.

God has commanded us that we are to keep one day in seven holy, that is the Sabbath day, a day of rest. The Lord's Day is now our day of rest, it is a day that give completely over to the worship of Him.

John the Baptist was chosen to be the forerunner of the Lord Jesus Christ. We are told about the home that he would be born into, and he would be blessed with godly parents. Anyone who has godly parents are blessed indeed.

God has commanded us to remember the Sabbath day and to keep it holy. Are we to observe the Sabbath today- When and how did the Old Testament Sabbath become the Lord's Day.

Household salvation, is the prayer and desire of many Christians. Sometimes household salvation can be brought about in the providence of God, in a way that we do not expect.
