The children of Israel, adopted a form of religion that souls to marry the worship of God with the worship of idols. They sought to adopt a kind of mongrel religion, a religion that is still being practiced today and is an abomination in the sight of God.

The life and ministry of John the Baptist, was full of Christ. He was a man who always preached Christ, promoted Christ and Christ was always at the centre of all that he did, and said.

There are many modern trends being introduced into worship services, that are not glorifying to God. The Lord gives instruction how He expects His people to worship Him.

John the Baptist, had a very short public ministry, but he made every day tell for Christ. He came into the world to be a witness for his Master, and he certainly did not fail. Let us learn from the ministry of John, and live our lives witnessing for Christ.

God has commanded us, Thou shalt not covet. To covet is a sin that is dangerous, because we do not know what it will ultimately lead to. Unfortunately men are prepared to do anything to acquire that which they covet.

The apostle James has told us that the tongue is a small member of the body, but if not controlled, can cause much harm, such as bearing false witness against our neighbour. Many a good name and reputation has been ruined because of false accusations.

John the Baptist was greatly honoured when the Lord Jesus came to him at the river Jordan to be baptised. In that meeting between John and the Lord Jesus, we see the humility of Christ, and of John also. Also , the glory of the blessed Trinity was seen by all.

In the eighth commandment, God tells us, Thou shalt not steal. The words not only refer to stealing from our fellow man, but it deals with stealing from God Himself. Honesty should be the testimony of the true believer.

The great need of this day is for faithful preachers of the word to occupy the pulpits of our land. Men who will declare the word faithfully and in so doing will preach Christ in all His fullness, John and Baptist was such a man.

John the Baptist was such a Christ like man in so many ways. He was a man who stood for truth and was fearless in his denunciation of sin In every form including hypocrisy. He was a man who had a bright testimony for the Saviour.
