On this New Year Day, we not only celebrate it with joy and hope but also need to focus on the future not the past year of 2020. (Philippians 3:14).  The year of 2020 was a great challenge for all of us. Joseph in the Bible is an excellent example for us. (Genesis 37-45) Yet, we all need to embrace the new 2021 with enthusiasm and positive perspectives. Looking forward and forgetting the past.

This is a rerun posted in 2019. Although we have been experiencing a great deal of challenges in the year of 2020, let's continue counting our blessings beyond the physical and financial difficulties. Regardless of our differences in race, religion, ethnicity, social economic status, political standings and many additional variables, we at least have enjoyed peace and liberty as compared with other nations around the world. It’s also a good time for us to consider the future direction and challenges of this great nation.

The double great stress of COVID-19 and presidential election may induce certain levels of conflicts for interpersonal relationships. Yet, God created us all with unique traits, features, and personalities. Such differences have made our world very exciting and beautiful! However, it requires certain skills to get along with people who are different from us especially we are not familiar with them. Let's re-run this one. As of 2/22/ 2020 the death toll from the covid-19 (coronavirus) outbreak rose up to 76936 infected and 2442 (0.032) died in China with some cases in 25 countries.Yet, World Health Organization officials said the mortality rate was relatively low and less deadly than SARS (0.10%). Last June 5, 2019, CDC reported that Swine Flu (H1N1) in 2009 infected 61 million Americans and killed 12K during the pandemic.  Let’s briefly run through the most deadly epidemics in the US.

It’s natural to get mad at times with different level of madness. The challenge is how do we handle our madness or anger.  There is much literature addressing the causes and management of habitual anger. Here we merely focus some methods people shared when they got mad without being destructive. This is a sad life experience but a powerful spiritual uplifting! Under the challenges of COVID-19, I am thankful that this lady shared her prayer with me nearly nine years after its occurrence.
