Hey there listeners. In this episode, we start a mini-series of panels
talking about WW II mission movies that inspired my upcoming novel The
Last Night to Kill Nazis from Clash books. My novel comes out this
summer, during the pre-order period (You can get it from the Clash site,
Amazon, Barnes, and Noble, or basically any indie bookstore) we will
celebrate by talking about the movies that inspired it.
In this episode, I am joined by two old friends. Returning is Marc
Rothenberg regular listeners will know him from the annual top reads of
the year countdown. My other guest is Devlin McCarthy an old hardcore
scene friend who happens to be a nerd for all things World War Two. He
was one of the first people I asked to read my novel to vet it for
accuracy.
We are gathered to talk about the classic WW 2 Mission movies based
on the Alister Maclean novels The Guns of Navarone (1961), and Force 10
from Navarone(1978). These movies and the novels were major influences
on Last night, my novel includes several easter eggs and direct homages
to these movies. We talk about what makes these movies special, break
down the elements that make a good mission movie, and give you some
background on the creation of them.
I will be mixing these episodes in, while still producing my normal
programming, but if you are new here and looking for WW 2 film content
