In this episode we sit down with Peter Prazenka in Bratislava, Slovakia, as he takes us into the world of Irish whiskey in his home country. Having worked with a number of Irish brands to promote their portfolios across the country, Peter now works full time curating Slovakia’s largest Irish whiskey selection in his Irish Pub & Whiskey Bar – The Izzi Pub.

Gearóid gives us insight into the consumer buying patterns of German whiskey consumers pre- and during COVID 19 as well as what marketing activiations have been finding success in the German market and what he believes has been hindering the evolution of the industry in Germany, which is one of the largest Irish whiskey markets in Europe.

In the last episode of Potstilled Radio, EP Q9, PhD. candidate Fionnán O’Connor spoke to us about how he undertook a campaign to resurrect over 200 years of lost mashbills from Ireland’s distilling history, in County Meath’s Boann Distillery.

In this episode, sit down and join Michael Walsh, Head Distiller of Boann Distillery, as he gives us the behind the scenes insight into what it was like distilling vast quantities of grains that have not been distilled in an industrial scale in Ireland for decades.

He walks us through what the potential risks and pitsfalls that the distillery were expecting and how the distillery team was able to over come these. Not only that but Michael also explains how the team were able to distil vast quantities of oats and other grains without accidentially creating a cement/porridge mix once!

Sit down with Author & PhD candidate Fionnán O’Connor, as he takes us through his journey with Meath’s Boann Distillery, as he recreates over 200 years of lost distillery mashbills.

As a part of his PhD research, Fionnán has trolled through numerous archives, and historical troves to find the specific recipes from distilleries the length and breadth of the island, and thanks to the team at Boann Distillery, he now has an avenue to uncover and ressurect the lost flavours of Ireland’s by-gone distilling eras.

Listen in as Fionnán describes his process from archive to still and how this investigation is designed to bring back these lost flavours back to Ireland’s modern distilling landscape.
