The featured book, The Innocent Stranger, is the twentieth book of the Carson Reno Mystery Series. Gerald Darnell, the author has written each book as stand-alone novels. His writing style allows the readers to transport into the past where detectives not only wore hats and trenchcoats, but they had to solve murder mysteries without modern technology. Detectives had to make connects with cops and criminals to get information about the people they were investigating. Don't worry if you did not experience the 1950's or the 1960's. Readers will take a journey back to the life of the 1600s in this historical fiction story. The story begins with High Parsons' life being controlled by his parents. Hugh had no choice but to become a brick maker even though he wanted to become a farmer. His journey continues in a town called Springfield located in New England. His life spirals out of control after marrying Mary Lewis. He finds himself in court accused of witchcraft. Readers will sympathize with Hugh and Mary as they face difficult tribulations.

The author, Jean M. Roberts, developed the characters and the storyline after completing genealogy research on her family. She invites the readers to not only read about events that occurred with family members but also the rich historical cultural events of the 1600s.

Our featured book, Switch, by Allen Kent is a true treasure! This story is full of mystery and will keep the reader guessing until the end. The writer does a tremendous job when creating the main characters. Not only are these characters living in different centuries, but their personalities and talents are completely different from one another. Ally is a star athlete who plays soccer and enjoys riding horses. Emme is a brilliant artist and musician. The mystery begins when they find themselves switching bodies. The readers will enjoy learning how Ally and Emme change and transform into independent leaders who fulfill their role in the mystery.

During the podcast, Allen Kent explains that he wrote Switch as something of an experiment in cross-genre and cross-generational writing.
