  • Disrupting for Good: Using Passion & Persistence to Create Lasting Change-POS:09
The amazing author of Disrupting for Good, Chris Field, has created a book that has allowed ordinary people who have been "disruptors" to be recognized for their accomplishments. Through Chris' choices to disrupt the mistreatment of children in Ghana, he leads the example of what a disruptor truly is.  He is the founder and executive director of Mercy Project. The mission of Mercy Project is to rescue children from slavery. They partner with families and communities trapped in the cycle of poverty, empowering them with sustainable economic solutions in order to free children from forced labor.

Chris has completed research and shares other disruptors accomplishments that create better futures for society. A nursing home in Seattle has a daycare center for children contained in the same building. A Boston pizza restaurant hires individuals that are deaf and communicate by using sign language. The customers have to order by using sign language. There are many more stories with creative and touching ideas! Disrupting Good will have readers wanting to be apart of disrupting what needs to be changed in the world and becoming a disruptor.

  • Opening the Puzzle Box: The Trilogy (Interview with Angel Thompson) POS:007
"It has been said that our children are a puzzle and that we need to put them back together one piece at a time. Yet, as I sit with my son who has Autism I realize that he is not the puzzle....we are."

The author, Angel Thompson, has written three devotional books for parents with special needs and combined these books into a trilogy. Each book contains personal stories that she and her family have experienced when her son, Joshua, was diagnosed with Autism. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 1 in 59 children will be diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. This book is a must for families that are taking the journey of having a loved one diagnosed with Autism. Some families will feel lonely and desperate and Angel Thompson is leading them to the one support that many families need, God.

The True Intimacy of Becoming a Water Walker is the first book that illustrates how to trust in God and know that he will not let you down in any situation that you may face. "To be a water walker means to be a person who is willing to step out of one's comfort zone in faith, getting your feet wet, and trusting that God will not let you down."

True Intimacy is the second book that illustrates how to experience the true intimacy with God by allowing him to come into your heart, have a relationship with him,  and allow him to take charge of your life.

The third book, Life Inside the Box of a Jigsaw Puzzle, explores how families can grasp God's grace, strength, and hope to understand the world inside the Autism Spectrum.

Her son Joshua wrote a book when he was 7 years old, Jelly Pirates.

You can find his book and Angel's books on Lulu, Barnes and Nobel, and Amazon.

  • Study Guide: The Day They Sold the Moon-POS001
During this podcast, we review the independent book, Study Guide: The Day They Sold the Moon by Tracy Goodwin. This study guide is a great resource for teachers, which includes several activities and creative drama ideas that expose students to "virtues."  These lessons can be integrated into a Language Arts, Math, Science, and Health curriculum. The book, The Day They Sold the Moon was written by a young child who has Autism, Jack Paschall. The main character in the book wants to go to the moon since it is made up of cheese. He comes up with a brilliant plan to become abducted by aliens so that he can get to the moon. He dresses in a cow costume which gets the attention of a frog alien named Musher. He hires Jack to help sell the cheese on the moon. Eventually, Jack realizes that the moon is disappearing, and he needs to find a solution before our oceans, animals, and the solar system are affected. In the end, Jack saves the moon.

Tracy Goodwin helped Jack Paschall tell and publish his story. Amazing! Even though Jack has Autism and has difficulty with social skills, he teaches virtues throughout his story. Tracy published the Study Guide: The Day They Sold the Moon to continue this story process. Today, our children need to learn a great deal on virtues such as having confidence, integrity, working with other, having gratitude, and loving yourself as you are.
