Some principles I try to follow when it comes to politics:
1) Friends first. Don't let politics come between us.
2) Don't demonise or disagree for the sake of it.
3) 'Them and us' = all working people vs inherited wealth
4) Recognise there is a limit to what politicians can achieve. Vow to do more ourselves by working together.
5) Power should always be questioned and challenged.
6) Widen participation in democracy
7) If you want change, be prepared to win an unfair fight.
Jason Leitch has been a key member of the Scottish Government COVID-19 daily briefing team. He's fronted adverts, given countless interviews and even appeared on mainstream entertainment programmes.
He has a senior role, a huge amount of expertise and experience and has won admirers for his down to earth approach to getting sometimes complex messages across.
With so many media appearances, it's no surprise there is much we can learn from him. In my professional opinion, he has also made some serious mistakes, which we can also learn from.

It's time our governments stopped letting big business rip the piss.
Start by demanding a bigger contribution from Amazon and the Premier League. If they won't up their game, Scotland should launch its own, national e-commerce platform.

Stop talking about 'what you're GOING to do'.
Do something that makes a difference, then reflect on how you did it.
Anyone can say 'we're going to be more diverse/we're going to innovate/x, y, z is at the heart of who we are going forward'.
The proof is in the pudding.
Don't waste my attention on mere intention.
You need currency in the game. You get that from action, results and outcomes. Not this morning's marketing brainstorm.
