The COVID-19 pandemic has brought an enormous amount of loss; by now, we are all aware of the staggering numbers and the poignant stories of those affected. It is clear that COVID-19 is not only a global health emergency, it is also a significant global economic crisis, mostly affecting women and their employment opportunities.
Working mothers have reduced their work hours four to five times more than fathers to care for their children. It is well known that when more women work, economies grow because women's economic empowerment boosts productivity and increases economic diversification and income equality.
How do we encourage female economic empowerment while also ensuring essential support in other areas of their lives? How do we address the evident economic inequalities among men and women, but also women of color? How do women power through the morass of structural barriers to amplify their voices and unlock their true potential? Let's all find out in this episode- Hustling during COVID-19.
In this first episode, we will discuss how to bounce back from a crisis and manage the unexpected. We can all agree that COVID-19 has been precisely that, an unexpected crisis that has reached global proportions and has put a halt on every industry and sector, not just the health-related ones.
The pandemic has taken an enormous toll on everyone. Even if we have been lucky enough not to get infected with COVID, our mental health has probably suffered in one way or another.
The challenges are real, and they are here, but what can we do to motivate ourselves and find solutions? Sometimes it is not as simple as to repeat positivity mantras, we need something else to ignite that passion. How can we manage a situation like that? How do we transform hopelessness into hope, resignation into resilience?
