The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The City of Lubbock is being run by folks who are either pro-crime tax increase money grubbers who think the people they are paid to serve are stupid or, they themselves are too stupid to hold the positions taxpayers pay them to hold.
I explain why the excuse for a new $50 per year fee (tax) to have an alarm system is pro-crime, and has nothing whatsoever to do with addressing the problem of “false alarms” officials say is behind the nasty scheme. I had high hopes for the new police chief but respect has diminished greatly.

Follow up to last Friday’s show: 60% of young liberals approve of political violence. What have our leftist infused schools and culture wrought?!

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: A Texas-sized embarrassment took place this week with some Texas National Guard troops being pulled from deployment for not meeting mission standards. Secretary of War Hegseth has lowered the gauntlet over fitness standards in the military but this is not a new issue. Back in the regular session of the Texas Legislature, a bill was pushed to help with a real fitness problem for Texas National and State Guard members but was opposed by the Texas Military Department – seems to me they now have egg on their faces.
Ammon Blair, a senior fellow at the Texas Public Policy Foundation, joins us to talk about the issue, what was in the bill, and why the brass opposed it.

Attorney General Paxton successfully uses the Texas Health and Safety code to frustrate Malcolm Tanner’s effort to recruit people to Loving County for a political takeover.
Much change has been made but the folks at the Alamo Trust are still woke leftists lying in wait to destroy Texas heritage. Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham goes after the woke bunch at the Trust after those folks posted an “indigenous peoples” day message.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: As expected, union lawyer and far-Left Democrat Gina Hinojosa announced she would seek the Democrat nomination for Texas governor to take on Greg Abbott. She’s locked up most of the insider support already and why not? She is as Leftwing radical as any of them.

The conflict between Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller and the USDA over the New World Screwworm fight is mostly mischaracterized to make it appear that Miller is fighting the Trump Administration. That’s nonsense, Miller is clearly wanting to simply do more than USDA is willing to do to stop this situation that could decimate ranching and is pushing up beef prices for us all.
Snyder ISD abuse case certainly make it appear that Scurry Co. has a weak on crime district attorney. Even if that is not the case, nothing excuses the DA’s refusal to meet with local families in the matter.

Our Lone Star story of the day: How did the week of hearings before a panel of three federal judges in El Paso over Texas’ congressional district map redraw go? The U.S. Supreme Court is putting us all in the sites for Leftist lawfare by not accepting the appeal of Texas-based talk host Alex Jones. Few want to write about this topic as they don’t want to be seen as defending Alex Jones. I understand that but they better start defending the issue because it is self defense.
SpaceX had a wildly successful test flight, test 11, from Starbase, Texas on Monday evening. Space historian and writer Bob Zimmerman of behindtheblack.com joins us to summarize what happened.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: As expected the Republican Party of Texas executive committee did not vote to ban anyone from the ballot in the big meeting this weekend. The committee did concur with local censure resolutions of five state legislators and did not do so for five others.
Also in a development for the RPT, Attorney General Ken Paxton has joined Texas Republicans, as A.G., in urging the court to allow the party to conducted closed primary elections. This leaves the Secretary of State to fight to keep legislator control of Texas GOP primary elections.

Texas oil and gas rig count plunges.
Texas State Teachers Association parent union, NEA, sends three million members map that completely ‘erases’ Israel. “The email also linked to shocking material that defended Hamas’ depraved Oct. 7, 2023, attack on Israel that killed 1,200 people and led to another 250 being kidnapped to Palestine, according to NAVI.”

Our Lone Star story of the day: Has Leftist violence become mainstream, acceptable? We examine the issue from a very well written Douglas Murray column from The Spectator.
Violent periods in American History are more common than many think but, does the country have the will to make a course correction now? Or, are too many institutions like the press and Democratic Party, as well as economic sectors, willing allies of the bad, violent actors?

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: City of Dallas faux pas shows that taxpayer funded lobbying may be an even bigger problem than we know. It’s time we get action, not just words (acta non verba) from Speaker Burrows and the legislature and fully ban the practice of local governments using our money to hire lobbyists to lobby against our interests. More, more.

Our Lone Star story of the day: There is much hubbub about the Republican Party of Texas executive committee meeting this weekend and Rule 44. This Tribune piece gives a good background of how Rule 44 came to be and has evolved. I give my overall take on the issue on today’s show. Don’t trust the self-interested who want to use a Party for their own advancement, trust those who work with the party to advance the interests of its members.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: A story in the Texas Tribune, picked up by media outlets across the state, makes one wonder if a lot of the Texas Tech faculty is intelligent enough to hold the cushy jobs they do. Also, these folk need a reminder: The people own state institutions, not the faculty and other employees. Those institutions should reflect the values of the people, as expressed through their representatives, not the values of the staff.

Another ridiculously stupid statement from a public school administrator to justify debt and big spending. 40-years is not old for a building and if you can’t maintain buildings day-to-day, they why is it responsible to give you more money to build new ones – that you also will not maintain. (Merkel ISD)
Texas picks firm to administer the new school choice program.
These Texas school districts ordered Bible-infused lesson plans – a typical, and ignorant, slant to the curriculum that simply recognizes that the Bible plays a huge foundational and cultural part in our history and who we are.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Governor Abbott volunteers the Texas National Guard for duty in Oregon and Illinois where cities are in revolt and rebellion over the enforcement of longstanding U.S. immigration law. But, a Trump-appointed federal judge stupidly says “no” to it all and the media and Democrats do what is essentially a 180 degree turn from the previous praise of using the national guard to enforce federal law in states and local jurisdictions where such is interfered with.
