The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: State Representative James Frank of Wichita Falls announced a run to challenge Dade Phelan for Speaker of the House bringing the total to 4 challengers, 5 in the race.
Rep. Frank is a good conservative on most issues, though my own column in 2017 reminds that he can stray, but members should give serious consideration to whether they want yet another speaker for whom his or her word is not necessarily a bond when political expediency comes in to play – see: Rep. Phelan, other Republicans intent on giving Texas Democrats that which voters refused to give.

Lubbock County commissioners Jordan Rackler, Precinct 4, and Jason Corley, Precinct 2, stand strong for taxpayers and again deny the quorum required to pass yet another Bowtie Bully Parrish tax increase. Parrish wants to increase county spending by seven and a half million dollars this year alone!
Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick releases additional “interim charges” for senators.
Texas HD73 Democrat candidate smokes pot on camera in a commercial pushing legalized marijuana.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The backroom work to intimidate, and even ruin, two Lubbock County commissioners – all for working to stop ballooning county spending and a big tax increase – is underway from several fronts. The latest item that is in public is beyond petty – it is juvenile and petulant political retribution from Big Budgets Bowtie Parrish.
We visit with one of the targets, Lubbock County Precinct 4 Commissioner Jordan Rackler.

Attorney General Paxton sues Travis County for the same reason he sued Bexar County earlier in the week: The hiring of a partisan “progressive” outfit to run a local voter registration scheme.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: A Texas case out of Fort Bend County, in which a Democrat county commissioner candidate, former Dem county judge chief of staff, and Biden White House liaison has been indicted on charges of impersonation, shows how the Left and Democrats setup their own victimhood and excuses for rabidly criticizing the country. It’s all very similar to international false flag operations and is based on lies. When your are a Marxist, rejecting all ideas of set morality, you adopt the Marxist idea that the ends justify the means.

Rick Perry’s help the big money insider crowd keep Dade Phelan in the Texas House Speaker’s chair goes from the runoff campaign to an official position in Phelan’s operation – he joins mega-lobbyist Mike Toomey. More.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: False conservative city Councilwoman Jennifer Wilson leads Lubbock city council to pass a tax increase, overriding the newly elected Mayor Mark McBrayer as well as conservative Councilman David Glasheen. But wait there’s more! Wilson also appears to have successfully pushed a mechanism whereby elected officials will have less responsibility and accountability in one of biggest expenses of a city – police and firefighter pay. This the exact disease that the Congress began decades ago which puts the growth of spending and government on near autopilot while exempting the elected from having to do hard work.

Texas revenue for FY2024 comes in right about where the Comptroller predicted a year ago. It is down when factored against inflation.
A fourth state representative enters the race for Speaker of the Texas House: David Cook. I discuss the items of importance he wrote in a letter to members of the House.
Attorney General Paxton sues Bexar County for hiring an outside, Leftist firm to mail unsolicited voter registration applicants to voters – and it did so on a no-bid contract! Read the suit, it has far more information than the press release.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas Attorney General Paxton had a big week last week. I’ll talk about his push on election integrity with Bexar and Harris counties and why government has not legitimate interest in having higher, or lower, voter turnout.

Leftist business group sues to strike Texas’ ESG investment ban – a truly stupid lawsuit because a state has a right to set rules for its own investments just as California can favor ESG investment.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas is leading the way in voter roll clean up and has removed over 1 million ineligible voters. But nevermind all of that, Democrats and their press propagandists keep with the narrative that there is little to no corruption related to voting.
The problem for Texas Democrats is that for decades most of the allegations brought to law enforcement (as well as convictions) come from Democrats charging other Democrats with cheating.
The latest episode has LULAC, the media, and Democrats claiming racism and all the other regular charges but once again, it is nothing of the sort. The Office of Attorney General is investigating ballot harvesting charges from a Democrat candidate and was requested to do so by the local district attorney. Also, the raids last week were only a step in an investigation that has gone on since 2022.
You have to skip the top section of the story, as it’s filled with agitprop for Dems, to get to the real meat of the story the media would rather bury: Warrants detail Ken Paxton’s vote harvesting investigation.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Today we will talk with conservative movement warrior Jim Pfaff and get us all reacquainted with one of the oldest and most prestigious conservative organizations – it turns 50 this year – The Conservative Caucus. About issue polling versus candidate and party support: Data shows me that a very large plurality of voters, in this case in swing states, really have little to no idea of the positions and action of parties and candidates on the issues those same people say are most important. Here is the detailed survey data I was working from and here is the data from the North Carolina polling.

More on the Lubbock County fight to stop a big tax increase. Some media get it right, others let the pompous Curtis Parrish feed a misleading line. And while Parrish says it would be terrible to not raise taxes, Tarrant County has already passed a big tax cut. Now, the City of Fort Worth has told the city manager to redo the budget and provide a tax cut there too!
Also from Tarrant County, public schools show they are about greed for money above all – claim the move to appraise residential property every two years, instead of every year, would destroy them and harm children!
Dallas Fed: Texas service sector growth modest; retail still in decline.
Temporary win for Americans, Texas, Paxton, et. al. over another Harris/Biden policy to encourage illegal immigration and fraud. Paxton’s statement.
