The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Nathan Johnson, the Democrat nominee for Texas Attorney General, pledges to abandon Texans and leave them victim to the Left’s cultural revolution if elected in November. What “governance” is he talking about? Clearly he doesn’t understand that most everything, all from his side of the aisle, from trying to sex change children to banning gas stoves, are day-to-day issues that none of us should have had to have been facing over the last decade. These are the very things he callas “partisan” that Paxton has fought to protect us from and that Middleton will also fight hard to counter.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Fourteen Texas Democrats missed the May 5th deadline to pay their fines for trying to tank “Democracy” by breaking quorum in the Texas legislature. Some who did pay wrote vulgarisms on their checks which is a reflection of who they are.
Meanwhile, Democrat media is wondering if the extremely liberal, and on the record as such over and over for years and years, Austin-centric Dem ticket is that good of an idea for November (a little late, no?)

Texas Justices Toss Cities’ Challenge to Cable Franchise Fee Cap – great!
Texas Tribune cries that Republicans might further reduce the scope of local governments’ power and this story is a good example of why it’s not a bad idea: Harris County electronic monitoring program doesn’t track defendants who become fugitives. They don’t track those who cut off the monitors!!! What’s the point of the program then?
Oil and gas rig count shows Texas adding more drilling rigs. Meanwhile Chevron and Exxon/Mobile execs warn of a disastrous price spike possibility.

The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Is D.E.I. gone from Texas state colleges and universities because a law mandated such? Don’t bet on it. The Texas Scorecard has a big piece out on the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and its career homosexual and DEI organizer and advocate (and transsexual) who holds the senior position on institutional “culture.” Just remember, whomever sets defines the measurements, or metrics, controls who is recognized as having merit.

Want evidence of the utter stupidity of today’s leftist credentialed class? Just take this editorial: Trump’s messy mass deportations hurt American workers. By this reasoning a shortage of workers leads not to higher wages from demand pressures but to more unemployment!

Our Lone Star story of the day: Can taxpayers and electricity rate payers be the victors, as opposed to the victims, of the data center boom in Texas? Pete Sepp, president of the National Taxpayers Union, says such can be the case, especially if the local deals are properly structured.

Our Lone Star story of the day: Does Texas state law allow for too much local control for local governments? If not, then how does a relatively small school district amass more than $1 BILLION in debt that is payable by taxpayers for generations?

Lubbock Central Appraisal District: Are accusations that company played property tax process to gain advantage a one-time issue or burgeoning problem? Yes, there are statewide problems with the way the appraisal side of the property tax system works but that’s not what is really at issue here. In this case it seems more of a mattter of integrity of LCAD officials: If you give one firm a deal, you should give the same deal to the other firms representing taxpayers.
Hearst’s Chron.com lashes out at a Lubbock TV anchor implying he made “racist” statements on the air. What shoddy work by the reporter who neither shows how the comments are in any way racist or that what was said was demonstrably untrue. It is the reporter and media outlet that needs to issue an apology to the Eppler unless it can present actual information. And if Eppler was wrong on the statement, all that needs is an on air correction, it certainly isn’t a racist or bigoted comment in and of itself.

Incumbents lost, in both parties, fresh matchups are set for November, and the Hearst newspapers editorial boards beg Cornyn to become a full out Democrat in the rest of his term in order to salvage his political reputation and get revenge on Trump.
