  • Episode 3103: Obvious border “invasion” is not being slowed or stopped with Texas force | RIP Mike Leach – Pratt on Texas 12/13/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Thousands illegally pour across our border with Mexico daily and it shows that, so far, Governor Abbott’s “invasion” declaration was nothing more than rhetoric and that much of Operation Lone Star, costing Texans billions, is hollow, ineffective political posturing. Also, Republicans in Congress have a good set of practical goals for border related action but will they ever have the votes? Meanwhile, Democrats continue suing the so-called “dreamers” as P.R. pawns while doing nothing to solve the issue even when they have full power so to do.Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Coach Mike Leach dies at 61. • Episode 3102: Texas House rules to shut out public in leadership races challenged | Anti-Wimp update – Pratt on Texas 12/12/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: The Texas press, and Austin power insiders, paint those who want only Republicans to be chairman of Texas House Committees as radicals even though that’s the longstanding tradition of the U.S. Congress – the majority party gets the gavels. A rules fight is coming in January to try and accomplish this key Texas GOP priority but it will take much pressure on state reps from constituents to get it done. Also, a key lawsuit has been filed over restrictions placed on the people to do with races for Texas House Speaker. The House has passed laws designed to insulate it and its members from the public those members are supposed to serve. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Anti-Wimp update: Teen robbers shot by victims armed friend.More alleged corruption at Texas Southern University; its police chief this time. • Episode 3101: Opposing children at drag shows is akin to being a Nazi, Texas Tribune implies | Abortion case ruling – Pratt on Texas 12/9/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: As was the case all those years ago with concealed carry and firearm law clean-up like the “traveling statute,” this legislative session may be a near constant “contact your rep. and senator” session. Why? The Leftist state press is working overtime to frighten lawmakers into avoiding culture war issues. The Texas Tribune is going so far as to attempt to directly link anyone who  protests the sexualization of children to NAZIs and others they define as members of “hate groups.” The Tribune piece takes all a step farther but is not that different from the state’s other big media outlets. It’s a no-holds-barred attack to cower timid lawmakers (of which their are many sadly) into avoiding the homosexual, CRT, and other culture war issues. (By the way, it is not new for the Left to accuse Christians in general of being horrible. Such is a base component of Marxism.) When in Austin for the legislative session, these people are surrounded by Leftwing Austin, its media, and its culture. They will need reinforcement, bucking-up if you will, from constituents back home to get the needed jobs done in the upcoming 88th Session. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Oil and gas rotary drilling rig count.Watch out for media stories on the Texas abortion lawsuit being tossed out. • Episode 3100: Texas Democrats reward more fakery, elect F.F.F.III caucus head | Abbott’s perilous precedent – Pratt on Texas 12/8/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Fakes and Frauds: At least most fake Republican office holders try and hide their deception. Texas Democrats reward fakery with leadership – House Democrats have elected Ferdinand Frank Fischer, III as their caucus leader – that’s his real name similar to Robert Francis O’Rourke being the name of the guy who goes by Beto to appeal to Hispanic voters. Ferdinand goes by Trey Martinez Fischer and the media doesn’t care though it’s still a mystery how he got on the ballot that way.Oh, and here’s the gem the Mexican American Legislative Caucus elected as chairwoman. Both Neave and Fischer seem to share a similar problem – gulp. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Gov. Abbott continues to solidify a terrible precedent which will one day be used by Dems to destroy our liberties.  State Rep. Brian Harrison gets the issue right. And, other news of Texas.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. Click for our affiliates.www.PrattonTexas.com

  • Episode 3099: Texas legislators need to dump slogan & move more conservative policy | Sales tax numbers | Border – Pratt on Texas 12/7/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: It’s funny how Republican Texas legislators stick to their contrived P.R. slogan about last session, the 87th, being the “most conservative” in history. Was it? Maybe, maybe not. But, conservatives from the outside who are very aware of the true political and social issues facing our country have a very different take on the Texas Legislature: Texas ranks as the 25 most non-conservative legislature of the 50 states – missing even being in the 25 most conservative list by one place. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Local city sales tax numbers released and most all are up big – so why did so many raise property taxes? The Rackspace disaster hits Taylor County.President Biden doesn’t think the border crisis important and a key decision today from the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Travis County courts’ attempt to intervene in the cases of those arrested under Operation Lone Star. And, other news of Texas.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3098: The big fight brewing for the 88th Legislature | LULAC’s hypocritical lawsuit against Houston – Pratt on Texas 12/6/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Tax breaks using the Texas surplus; the electric grid and its generating capacity; big political egos, and; divided power – it all comes together to define the biggest fight brewing for the 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.The troubling Twitter censorship revelations continue.Gov. • Episode 3097: Press trivializes/secularizes Methodist split | Twitter lessons | Phelan gets GOP nod for Speaker – Pratt on Texas 12/5/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Despite claims by ignorant reporters, church denomination splits like that of the now “non-” United Methodists are NOT about secular liberal versus conservative politics. For a few maybe, but what is at stake in these battles is literally the entire truth of Christianity – that God’s Word is eternal and above all versus having a so-called “church” that is little more than a social institution guided not by God but by man’s own desires. We’ve seen enough of the latter in the Old Testament and know just what God thinks of such human disobedience. There is simply no way to read scripture, either literally or contextually, and come up with the idea that sexual immorality is not serious sin and in opposition to God’s plan for His people. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.The Texas House Republican Caucus met and nominated Speaker Dade Phelan to another session in the role by a secret ballot vote of 78 to 6.Twitter and what Musk’s unmasking of the firm’s political speech efforts tells us.Elon Musk’s ‘Twitter files’ demand answers from the governmentTwitter Is Bad but Not for the Reason the Left ThinksFBI Met with Twitter ‘Weekly’ Ahead of 2020, Warned of ‘Hack-and-Leak’ OperationsAnd, other news of Texas.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3096: PUC plan for electric generation in trouble (rightly so) | Record sales tax receipts – Pratt on Texas 12/2/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: With the 88th Regular Session of the Texas Legislature approaching, I’ll begin to provide more looks at issues and argument to which we’ll be treated in the session. Already an issue, Governor Abbott pushed school choice and parental empowerment in his re-election campaign. Most all admit that overcoming the giant bureaucracies, fears, and habits of thinking make school choice very much an uphill battle. As expected the public school lobby is trying to get more of your money for schools with less and less accountability. Now they want to get paid for students who don’t even attend! Also, a key Senate committee has put sent up quite a major flare over the Public Utility Commission of Texas’ electric grid power generation plan. Let’s hope that legislators will stop what’s happening and do what is right: Put the burden of cost for unreliable power generation directly upon the investors of unreliable power as opposed to putting such on rate payers. Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Texas sales tax revenues in November hit an all time record.Oil and gas rig count report.More bad border news. And, other news of Texas.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3095: Setup by insiders to stop a big Texas tax decrease? | Sylvester: DEI must be stopped on Texas’ campuses – Pratt on Texas 12/1/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Did the Legislative Budget Board set up legislative leaders to have an excuse to ignore Governor Abbott’s campaign pledge of using half of the projected surplus for serious, historic tax cuts?  Sadly it looks as if that may have been the case. A bit of press coverage on Lt. Gov. Patrick’s press conference:Lt. Governor Unveils Broad 2023 Priorities, Constitutional Amendment Maneuver to Avoid Busting Spending Cap – by far the best coverageLt. Gov. Dan Patrick Previews Priorities Ahead of Legislature’s Return4 things to know about Dan Patrick’s plans for the Texas LegislatureOur Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.Yesterday I spoke at length explaining how CRT and it’s associated canon of thought, of which Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a part, openly seeks to right past injustices, whether real or imagined, with planned and government enforced current and future injustice. I explained how our state colleges and universities, as institutions, are adopting the Marxist Critical Theory positions and advocating, even forcibly, for such with taxpayer money.Critical Race Theory, CRT, is a pro-discrimination derivative of Marxist Theory and part of a subset called Critical Theory. It is inherently political thought and it, along with the other items in the related canon of ideas, surrounds us in our institutions.Today, quite presciently and on-cue, political strategist Sherry Sylvester of the Texas Public Policy Foundation published this piece that is a perfect follow-up: What Would Gavin Newsom Do? It’s Time to Stop DEI on Campus.I’m sadly not convinced we have enough legislators willing to act meaningful on this issue. Regents of our systems have done nothing to stop such. In fact, Regents have allowed all of this to go forward – all regents are Republican gubernatorial appointees!Kelly Stovall talks about her family’s long association with the Texas Cowboys’ Christmas Ball. And, other news of Texas.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central. • Episode 3094: Will legislators have the guts to stop DEI/CRT in Texas public colleges & universities? – Pratt on Texas 11/30/2022
The news of Texas covered today includes:Our Lone Star story of the day: Critical Race Theory, CRT, is a pro-discrimination derivative of Marxist Theory and part of a subset called Critical Theory. It is inherently political thought and it, along with the other items in the related canon of ideas, surrounds us in our institutions.CRT and it’s associated canon of thought, of which Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) is a part, openly and as Plan A seeks to right past injustices, whether real or imagined, with planned and government enforced current and future injustice. All of Critical Theory is as convoluted and immoral, and pernicious,  as is all the rest of Marxist thought from which it comes. Texas Tech and many other taxpayer owned institutions openly and proudly advocate for these political positions even forcing some to take courses of indoctrination into the same. Why are taxpayer supported institutions allowed to use the public’s money to advocate for political outcomes?I’m not talking about academic freedom which allows faculty to teach about such things as CRT, I’m pointing out that the institutions themselves are adopting the Marxist Critical Theory positions and advocating, even forcibly, for them and doing so with taxpayer money. Will Texas legislators have the patriotic gumption to put a stop to this, a stop with teeth that truly stops it?https://criticalrace.org/critical-race-theory-today/Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.And, other news of Texas.Listen on the radio, or station stream, at 5pm Central.
