Praying the Lauds - Your Daily Christian Morning Prayer

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - January 04, 2025 |Christmas Time

Jesus whispers to each of us, "Come with me." This isn't a call to a physical location, but a journey inward, a pilgrimage to the place of prayer. It's within the depths of your soul, in the quiet sanctuary of personal prayer, that you'll truly encounter me. There, in my divine presence, I invite you to simply be, to rest in my embrace.

Humility isn't weakness, but a gateway to transformation. Never hesitate to humble yourself before the greatness and glory of God. This act, far from diminishing you, opens the door for God to draw you into the fullness of His life and purpose. As the great Saint Francis said, "He who humbles himself will be exalted."

Collect Prayer

O God, who were pleased to give us

the shining example of the Holy Family,

graciously grant that we may imitate them

in practicing the virtues of family life and in the bonds of charity, and so, in the joy of your house,

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,

who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - December 28, 2024 |Feast of the Holy Innocents, Martyrs

While peace and joy are typically associated with the season, it's important to acknowledge the presence of hardships, persecutions, and suffering. The birth of Jesus doesn't eliminate suffering but rather transforms it, allowing us to participate in the redemptive suffering experienced by saints like Saint Stephen, the Holy Innocents, and all who have closely aligned themselves with Christ.

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - December 27, 2024 |Feast of St. John, Apostle and Evangelist

Saint John the Apostle, believed to have authored the Gospel of Saint John, three letters in the New Testament, and the Book of Revelation, is distinctive among the Apostles. He refers to himself as "the one whom Jesus loved" in his Gospel. Tradition suggests he outlived the other Apostles, passing away around 101 AD from natural causes, not martyrdom. Known for his mystical and reflective writing style, John's works emphasize divine love and the intimate relationship we are called to have with God.
