  • Morning Prayer - MONDAY, 06 Feb 2023

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - February 6, 2023 | Memorial of St. Paul Miki and Companions, Martyrs

"Blessed are those who suffer persecution for the sake of justice; the kingdom of heaven is theirs." - Gospel canticle

Paul Miki, a Japanese Jesuit, and his twenty-five companions (d. 1597) were martyred in Nagasaki, Japan. They were the first martyrs of East Asia to be canonized. They were killed simultaneously by being raised on crosses and then stabbed with spears. Their executioners were astounded upon seeing their joy at being associated to the Passion of Christ.

St. Paul Miki and companion martyrs, pray for us!

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - February 5, 2023 | Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

"The just man is a light in darkness to the upright." - Psalm 112:4a

Jesus promises the light of life to those who will follow Him. He instructed his disciples to share that light to others so that they may experience God's presence among them. Today, we too are invited to become modern day heralds of the Good News and we too have a duty to make that message known to all whom we meet.

    Let your light shine!

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - February 4, 2023 | Saturday Memorial of the Blessed Virgin Mary

"When Jesus disembarked and saw the vast crowd, his heart was moved with pity for them, for they were like sheep without a shepherd; and he began to teach them many things." - Mark 6:34

At some point in our lives, we may feel lost and abandoned amidst all the challenges of the world today and we see so many faces of sufferings in our midst. Jesus knows our deepest yearnings in life and He knows exactly how to help us.

Let us call on our Good Shepherd to save us and lead us home to Him. As we do so, may we also help him gather and herd this abandoned flock back into His fold.

  • Morning Prayer - FRIDAY, 03 Feb 2023

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - February 3, 2023 | Memorial of St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr

"Go and teach all nations, says the Lord; I am with you always, until the end of the world." - Mt. 28:19a, 20b

St. Blaise (or Blase) (d. 320) enjoyed widespread veneration in the Eastern and Western Churches due to many cures attributed to him. According to tradition, he was Bishop of Sebaste in Armenia and was martyred under Licinius. On this day the Church gives a "Blessing of the Throats" in honor of St. Blaise. From the eighth century he has been invoked on behalf of the sick, especially those afflicted with illnesses of the throat.

    St. Blaise, pray for us!

  • Morning Prayer - THURSDAY, 02 Feb 2023

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - February 2, 2023 | Feast of the Presentation of the Lord

"My eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples." - Luke 2:30-31

Today the Church celebrates the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord which occurs forty days after the birth of Jesus.

Though Jesus was the Son of God and himself is God, Jesus was still brought up in the faith by his parents with respect for the Law of Moses. As a sign of our welcoming Christ the Light into our lives, candles are also blessed and carried in procession in today's Liturgy.

Today, the Church also celebrates the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, founded by Pope St. John Paul II in 1997. It is a special time to pray for all consecrated men and women who offer their lives to God through prayer and service and enrich and gladden the Christian community. May more and more people hear and answer God's call to consecrate themselves to the Lord and His Church.

  • Morning Prayer - WEDNESDAY, 01 Feb 2023

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - February 1, 2023 | Wednesday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

"A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house." - Mark 6:4

How do you handle rejections in life?

Rejection, especially by our own relatives can be a very painful experience. Jesus was also rejected. Yet despite this, it did not stop doing him from doing his mission of preaching and healing. He is determined to follow the will of God for as He says, "My food is to do the will of him who sent me and complete his work" (John 4:34).

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - January 31, 2023 | Memorial of St. John Bosco, Priest

"Christ is the chief shepherd, the leader of his flock: come, let us adore him." - antiphon

St. John Bosco (1815-1888), born in Italy, was the founder of the Salesian Society, named in honor of St. Francis de Sales, and of the Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians. His lifework was the welfare of young boys and girls, hence his title, "Apostle of Youth." He had no formal system or theory of education, but rather his methods centered on persuasion, authentic religiosity, and love for young people. He was an enlightened educator and innovator. LISTEN | Morning Prayer - January 30, 2023 | Monday of the Fourth Week in Ordinary Time

"Let your hearts take comfort, all who hope in the Lord" - Ps. 31:25

All of us, in one way or the other, battle with our inner demons. These "evil spirits" like pride, attachments, bad habits and many more, isolate us from others. Jesus alone can drive these "evil spirits" from us. Let us take comfort in His Word and allow His power to save us and lead us away from all evil.

  • Morning Prayer - SATURDAY, 28 Jan 2023

LISTEN | Morning Prayer - January 28, 2023 | Memorial of St. Thomas Aquinas, Priest and Doctor of the Church

"The Lord is the source of all wisdom: come, let us adore him." - antiphon

St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) is the Dominican Order's greatest glory. He ranks among the greatest writers and theologians of all time. His most important work, the Summa Theologiae, an explanation and summary of the entire body of Catholic teaching, has been standard for centuries, even to our own day. At the Council of Trent it was consulted after the Bible.

To a deeply speculative mind, he joined a remarkable life of prayer, a precious memento of which has been left to us in the Office of Corpus Christi. Reputed as great already in life, he nevertheless remained modest, a perfect model of childlike simplicity and goodness.

St. Thomas Aquinas, pray for us!
