How is it that Christians can have an understanding of the mind and wisdom of God? Because we have been given the Spirit of God. God’s Spirit helps us understand God’s word and God’s will.

When the Gibeonites deceived Israel into forming a covenant of peace, there is a contrast of faith. Israel neglected the opportunities they had with the Lord; Gibeon feared God to the point of giving up everything to be saved. How badly do you want your relationship with Jesus?

What do we proclaim when we preach the gospel? Let it be Christ alone and Him crucified! He alone has the power to save.

After their initial defeat at Ai, Israel needed a do-over. God graciously gave one, which also gave Israel the opportunity to relearn some important lessons. Only by doing things God’s way according to God’s word can God’s people expect God’s blessings.

The Corinthians weren’t much to look at, but God used them in mighty ways. We may be weak, but God uses weak things for His glory…so glory in the Lord!

Although they were fresh from their victory at Jericho, Israel had unconfessed sin in their midst and it stopped them in their tracks in their walk with the Lord. It does the same thing with us, too. Don’t let sin fester in your life; deal with it by putting it to death!

When Joshua received God’s battle plans for Jericho, it may have seemed strange, but it was exactly what needed to be obeyed to see God’s power. We need to know God’s word and command, to obey and trust it, and only then will we experience God’s victory.

Competition had erupted among the Christians in Corinth and they were divided. Division and disunity is a distraction from the gospel. We want to be able to show people Jesus, while getting ourselves out of the way.
