God made a wonderful covenant with His chosen people – one which they would break, but from which they also could repent. For now, they had a choice before them: life or death, through their obedience to the covenant. We too, have a choice. Choose life – choose Jesus!

Once we are born-again, what do we do with our salvation? We love like Jesus, and we live for Jesus.

In concluding the covenant with Israel, Moses gave a vivid warning of the curses that would come if Israel abandoned God. To lose fellowship with our heavenly Father is an awful possibility. God warns us vividly, so we would stick close to Jesus!

Can God use earthly government as His minister? Yes. How is the Christian to respond? Through faith and trust in God.

As Moses gave the commands for Israel to commit to their covenant with God, we see Jesus as our covenant Maker and our covenant Keeper. How do we respond? Know what God says – agree with what God says – do what God says.

Once we have been saved and transformed by Jesus, how should we live? As Jesus did. In a chaotic culture, Christians are to live like Christ.

Moses concludes his review of the law with Israel, calling them to be holy as God is holy. God’s people are to be holy, because Jesus makes us holy.

God has put us into the body of Christ, so we are to serve Him soberly.

What seems to be a random bunch of laws is Moses’ exhortation to Israel to live as the holy people God had made them to be. Israel was God’s camp, and His people are to reflect God’s love and grace towards others.

After all the doctrine Paul gave about the gospel, the question in the book of Romans now becomes: what do we do with it? We live it out! Jesus gave all for us; we give all for Him.
