In this message, we consider Psalm 113, the third of the three Hallelujah psalms. It is the first of a group of six psalms called the Hallel Psalms (113-118). In later tradition 113-114 were sung before Seder, and 115-118 afterwards. These may be the hymn the Lord and His disciples sang after Passover in Matthew 26:30 and Mark 14:26. It could have been written by Hezekiah. It praises Yah from the kingdom perspective, when He will be high over all the earth, and will lift many out of the dust to exaltation. Psalm 114 may be written by Hezekiah as well. It speaks of Israel going out of Egypt, and how the sea fled from before them, and the mountains skipped as they came to the land of Israel. Why? Because of the presence of Jehovah with them! Psalm 115 is difficult to pin down, but it may speak of the attack on Judah during the reign of Jehoshaphat. It contrasts the living God to the idols of the nations, who look like human figures, but who do not live.

In this message, we continue our study from our last audio about the passages those who believe in universal salvation or universal reconciliation use to argue that all will ultimately be saved. We consider John 12:32, saying that the Lord will draw all to Him. Does this mean that He will force all to come? Ephesians 1:10 says He gathers all things together in Christ. Again, is this universal salvation? I Timothy 2:4 tells us God will have all men to be saved. Will He get what He wants? In I Timothy 4:10, God is the Savior of all men. Does this mean every single individual will be saved? Hebrews 2:9 says Jesus tasted death for every man. I John 4:14 says He is the Savior of the world. I Peter 3:9 says God is not willing that any should perish. Do these passages teach the salvation of all?

In this message, we continue considering Psalm 109, wherein David records the terrible curses his enemies have pronounced against him, curses which some, misunderstanding and placing in David’s mouth, have used to deny the inspiration of Scripture! The enemies justify their curse with false accusations against David. Once David finishes recording their words, he wishes their own curses to fall only on their own heads. Yet he is weak and helpless, and calls on Yahweh his Master to have mercy on him and rescue him. Though they might curse, if He will bless, then David knows he will have the victory over them. Then, we begin the great Psalm 110, a prophecy of Messiah. Jehovah speaks to David’s Adonai to sit on His right until His enemies are His footstool. He will rule among His enemies, and will be a Priest forever after the manner of Melchizedek. We discuss this strange Biblical character.

In this message, we consider several passages that universalists use as their favorite passages to prove that all will eventually be saved. First of all, Colossians 1:20 proclaims that Jesus Christ will reconcile all things to Himself. Does this mean universal reconciliation, that even Satan and the fallen angels will someday be saved? Then Romans 5:18 claims that all will receive justification of life. Does this mean that all will be justified before God and therefore saved? Finally, Philippians 2:10 says that every knee will bow to Jesus Christ, and every tongue confess that He is Lord. Does this not indicate that all will finally be saved?

In this psalm by David, Israel’s great shepherd-king writes of the greatness of Jehovah, his true Son and Lord. He extolls Yehovah for His many benefits, for His grace, and for His righteous justice. He will not be angry forever, for His mercy is as great as the heavens are high above the earth. Man’s days are like grass, but Yahweh’s mercy is to the olam and beyond. The LORD establishes His throne in heaven, and His government rules over all. So David calls on all to bless, meaning to speak well of and praise, Jehovah!

He speaks out of his illness and the affliction of those who hated him. He knows this has come on Him because of God’s wrath. Yet though He might end, God will continue and bring in His great, future flow of the kingdom. He will build up Zion, appear in glory, and answer the prayer of those like David, gathering all nations to serve Jehovah.
