  • How To talk To Your Kids About Drugs And Alcohol
There is a anepidemic as it relates to drugs and alcohol within our youth. As an adult and parent we have a moral responsibility and personal responsibility when it comes to our children or the children in our care. A parent is a role model and one of the most important person in a child's life. With that being said, it was documented in the Huffpost that, " If you think your teen is not using, or at least experimenting with drugs, you need to wake up." According to the National Center On Addiction and Substance Abuse, 75% of high school students have used an addictive substance and approximately 16% of the U.S. population ages 12 and over met a clinical  diagnostic criteria for addiction to nicotine, alcohol and other drugs. Drugs appear to be easy to come by, with 44% of high school students indicating that they knew a classmate who sells drugs. Drugs are in the home and communities of our youth. There are children in elementary school that have knowledge or have been exposed to drugs or alcohol. In 2016 alcohol remained the most common substance abused among teens. Marijuana came second then prescription drugs. was the most popular. Then there was Oxycotin and Vicodin. Sadly there are about 1600 kids trying prescription drugs for the first time every day. Let's not forget about the synthetic drugs and vaping is also on the rise.

  • Is Justice Really For All?
When it comes to the Criminal Justice System one must question, is justice really for all? This is a question that would vary from individual to individual based on their experience, race, culture and social economic status. It is a pervasive notion in America that Justice is blind, fairly administered and equal to all. However it is documented in a report that says that there is a lack of diversity among the nation's judiciary which is hindering fairness and the image of equality in the U.S. Justice System. There is definitely a problem especially for people of color.
There are individuals that get arrested and go before a judge however do the punishment fit the crime. Do the judge focus on punishment, rehabilitation or both? And what about the innocent when there is no evidence or insufficient evidence.
Many individuals have taken deals as they lacked knowledge of the system. Others have been found guilty when they were innocent. And other have been set free knowing that they committed the crime or received a sentence lesser than an individual of color that committed the same crime.

  • Being A Man Of God
Many individuals have heard of the term, " Man of God." However what does that mean? I have heard several men say, " It's hard being a man." So I can only imagine the challenges that would come with being a Man of God.
Man of God is a descriptition given to a man that follows God in every way, who obeys His commands with joy, who does not live for the things of this life but for the things of eternity, who willingly serves God in giving freely of all his resources yet gladly suffers as a consequences of his faith.
Many men are in trouble. There appears to be a shortage in role models and leaders to guide our men young and old. Many families are hungry for a spiritual leader for the family. It can be difficult for men to keep oneself from being polluted by the world ( James 1:23) Being a man is one thing being a Man of God is worth striving for.
Join Pastor Daniel Estell and I as we explore this topic as "The Struggle Is Real." And our men are under attack. Live 7/17/18 at 11:30am Pacifi

  • Children Of Color And Mental Health
Everyone deserves adequate mental health care. It is known that the mental health system is flawed. As hard as it is for anyone to get proper mental health care in the United States it is even harder for minorities. Many experience issues with insurance, wait time, difficulties finding specialist, sky rocketing deductibles and co-pays, and issues with not being understood.
"Eliminating Mental Health Disparities by 2020: Every one's action matter." Quoted by Regina Bussing and Faye A Gary. The month of July was designated Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in 2008. Such is to bring awareness to the unique struggles that under represented groups face in regards to mental health. A call to focus on children. Part of the concern has to do with the stigma regarding mental health, intimidation, lack of resources, knowledge and trust.
According to the APA, " The Federal Government has a critical rule to play in addressing the issue of racial and ethnic disparities in  mental health status and mental health care."
