    - Showing my work - I'm sunsetting this podcast, it's been super fun and now I need this time to pursue my next adventure, which looks like a series of books about erotic tarot readings, and licensing intellectual property. Whoo, that's a combo.

    - From the doing things outside dept, fruits trees are planted, and layering the biodiversity by way of chickens and bees.

    - Also grabbed a Library card, and checked out a book. My Hair is a Garden, we are doing our own Black History Month at our house. At the end of the book, it had a section on how to care for black hair and spiked great conversations about differences, and why it important to know, have knowledge base beyond our own personal care. With a five year old. I'm feeling good about my parenting here.


    Anyway, revelations happen at the library. Micheal Moore once said, you never want to piss off the librarians. The updated term is Mixed Media Specialists, I think.

          • Ancestor Shrine: I tend to use altar and shrine interchangeably, and while they aren’t exactly the same, for me it’s close enough.

          Growing up in El Paso, Ofrendas were a thing, and part of daily life both around 11/2 and all year around

          I've been super blessed with many teachers, and those who taught me the most about ancestor work have been

          • Elena Avila, Woman Who Glows in the Dark, a curandera from my hometown.
          • My Dutch grandmother Annekae, a professional wise woman.
          • Afua Hassan,
          • And FF (in the Ifa tradition.)


            • I have a couple of altars in my spaces, in my workspace I have invited my grandmother to be with me and guide me. I also realized I had a low-key altar to Afua, and I wanted to snaz it up.

            • A song that inspired me to dive deeper into understanding domestic violence and my privilege, and somehow connected me to Afua, and wanting to show up for pregnant people who may be low-resourced and in harm's way.
            • A birth revolution and body autonomy are how I choose to represent, with Mama Afua on my mind.

                  • I’ve been using the Laurel Denise and Passion Planner, slowly migrating into the LD as I grieve all the artwork and groovy stickers that went into the Passion Planner. I’ve temporarily moved into a backpack (my sister's Vera Bradly Black quilted with cherry lining, thank you very much.)
                  • My sister, who is an undated planner hater, just caved and bought the mini undated planner that has just been released and will be writing them with her fancy pens, but no stickers lol

                    2 “tells” that a baby doesn’t want to be born in a community setting like a birth center or homebirth, that the baby would be better served born in a more medical environment.
