Basketball season has begun, and he takes a quick look at some of this weekend's matchups (:42). On the recruiting front, three area athletes committed to Division I schools in recent days (2:19).

Week 10 of the high school football season saw a big upset (3:43). Looking ahead, the playoffs start this week for Classes 1A through 4A, and the most notable matchup is Mooreville at Booneville (5:51).

It's crunch time on the gridiron, and Tupelo looked as good as it has all season in a blowout win over Clinton last week (2:08). Shannon looked strong, too, forcing five turnovers in a victory against Region 1-4A foe Itawamba AHS (4:13). And how about Myrtle, knocking off Falkner to take control in 2-1A (6:26).

Looking ahead, it's the final week of the regular season for Classes 1A through 4A, and region titles are on the line. Region 1-2A is set up for a chaotic final week, as all four teams are 1-1 in region play (7:24). In other action, West Point takes on Pontotoc (9:10), and Shannon will try to clinch a region title against Amory (10:26).

The volleyball playoffs are winding down. Lafayette swept past Pontotoc to earn a return trip to the Class 5A final (1:44), while West Union handled Tupelo Christian to advance in 1A (2:27). Five area teams in all will play in the finals on Thursday and Friday in Clinton (3:38), including Ingomar, which is seeking a third straight title.

On the gridiron, Tupelo pulled off a huge comeback last week against Madison Central (5:20), and Itawamba AHS got big plays from Bryson Walters in a win over Amory (8:49).

Looking ahead to Week 8, Hatley visits East Union in a Region 1-2A showdown (9:57); Booneville meets Mantachie in a battle for first place in 1-3A (11:04); and Tupelo hits the road to face Germantown (11:52).

But first, the guys have a couple of volleyball updates: Behind Ava Whiteside, Pontotoc knocked off Corinth on Tuesday (1:51); meanwhile, Tupelo continued its recent slide with a tough loss to Madison Central (3:43).

On the football field, Drew Hollimon accounted for seven touchdowns as East Union rolled past Bruce (6:15). Tupelo took down Hernando in soggy conditions to move to 3-0 (7:59).

Looking ahead, Week 4 features a ton of tasty matchups. Baldwyn visits East Webster in a battle of ranked Small Schools (9:55); two of the area's top QBs face off when Itawamba AHS hosts New Albany (11:00); and both Mooreville and Tishomingo County enter their showdown as unbeaten teams (12:25).

As for the big news of the day, former Nettleton quarterback Braylen Williams has been ruled ineligible at Tupelo and will not be able to play this season (15:02).
