BONUS EPISODE of Pretty Sure We Can Do Better is out today!!
As I mentioned earlier this week, I had to say goodbye to my Grandpa Bob. I found the interview I did with him back in 2011 in his dining room. I thought... what better way to honor him than to share his story on a public platform? He was such a positive light in the world. This man did so much for his community and he was so caring and kind. He truly would do anything he could to help and encourage others. He had a lot of hardships in his life, but he kept going, and kept smiling, and kept seeking good in the world. And even though it took me making him sign a contract that he would retire, he's a great reminder that #prettysurewecandobetter

Sarah Bradbury keeps it REAL on this podcast episode. She fills us in on her work-life balance experiences in two different nonprofits, which lead to her decision to start her own Grant Writing consulting business!
Sarah is so generous in sharing the details of her journey and gives us so many inspirational tips to get you started.
Here are some take-aways:
-Get clear on the type of client you want to work with! You don't have to say yes to working with anyone who comes your way.
-Start before you're ready. If you are waiting until you are 100% ready, you aren't ever going to get started.
-Don't treat yourself like you are a risky bet. Be kind to yourself, you can do this!
-Find trusted people in your life to look for critical advice from
-Find a coach or a mentor who can keep you accountable and on track. It helps to have the perspective of someone who is not personally invested in your life.
-Get clear on what is going to make you happy. If you want more time in your life, what are you going to do with it? What would it mean to you to have that flexibility and time in your life?
-Lean on your network and nurture those connections. You never know who will be able to help you in the future.

In this episode, we hear from Nathan Vanderpool about the life of freedom and flexibility he has built for himself in Berlin, Germany. He talks about getting his masters in Germany, and how he chose to give up a life of "security" for a life where he gets to pursue his passions and control his schedule. We also touch on the topic of how having flexibility is so beneficial for his time and relationship with his son.
Take-Aways:
-Figure out who is a living example of the life you want to live, and ask them how they are creating it and advice they have. People want to help, and are willing to share advice!
-Surround yourself with people who are on the same journey.
-Get your cost of living as low as possible.
-Do a lot of inner work -- meditation, journaling, yoga, etc to help you overcome blocks and see the potential.
-If one thing doesn't work, keep trying, and taking action. Don't give up!
