It's the most wonderful time of year!  That is when Party Favorz rolls out our favorite dance tunes of the year that was.  Featuring the biggest and best in EDM and Deep House or as it's now referred to as Future House from 2015, the Top Dance Songs of the Year 2015 has it all!

To provide equal weight to each of the hand-selected songs for this 5-set series, I drew from a variety of charts including Billboard's Year-End Dance Club Songs chart as well as the Best of Beatport Charts in a variety of genres.  Now, we all know that relying solely on charts would provide an abundance of false positives.  It's not uncommon to look at the rankings and scratch your head in wonderment as to why certain songs rank the way they do much-less even ranked at all.

Because Party Favorz represents a broad representation of what's hot at any given moment throughout the year and pulls from every aspect of the EDM spectrum, heavy consideration is given to the underground hits and the bootlegs of pop songs that never had an official remix release.  After compiling all of that, I throw in some of my personal favorites, just because...well, I can.   In the end, it's all subjective and a matter of personal taste, but I'm confident I struck the right balance in my picks.

That being said, download or stream these puppies and fondly remember the year that was. ENJOY!

When I was working on the third volume of the Year-End Edition 1997, my memory was jogged about one of the divas on my list that I had not gotten around to inducting.  Yes, there is a short list of ladies (Patti Labelle, Aretha Franklin, etc.) that totally must be included in the Diva Hall of Fame but due to the complexities in putting their tributes together, I haven't taken a stab at it yet.  Chaka Khan was one such person.

As I listened to the awesomeness of Chaka's #1 club-dance hit Never Miss The Water with Me’Shell Ndegéocello, I knew it was time to get to work.

Miss Khan's career spans over four decades, starting as lead vocalist for the R&B Funk outfit Rufus.  They generated several top 40 and #1 R&B hits like the Stevie Wonder penned Tell Me Something Good, Sweet Love (later covered by Mary J. Blige and a personal favorite), At Midnight (My Love Will Lift You Up), and Do You Love What You Feel.

By 1978, Chaka (in true diva fashion) had rocky relationships with many members of Rufus and signed a solo deal with Warner Brothers.  Her debut album included the top twenty song I'm Every Woman (later covered by Whitney Houston).  From there, she released multiple albums with mild success but in 1983 joined forces with Rufus one more time for the album Stompin' at the Savoy -  Live, which included the studio track Ain't Nobody.  That song was Rufus' final top twenty hit and has been a staple in Chaka's repertoire ever since.

The following year, she released the album I Feel For You.  The title track penned by Prince, enjoyed massive global success fueling the album's platinum status.

In 1986, she joined forces with Steve Winwood for his massive comeback on the single Higher Love.

Chaka Khan continues to release new material and performs regularly.  Her voice, beauty, and skills have earned her massive success as well as well-deserved critical acclaim.  It's for these reasons and more that Party Favorz is honored to induct the fabulous Chaka Khan into the Diva Hall of Fame. XO

I get requests to create a Diva Series from this person and that one all the time.  Even if I don't respond to the individual, it's always in the back of my mind for future consideration.  Cyndi Lauper is one such request from years ago.  At the time, I didn't believe there were enough songs to do something credible for her.  Boy was I wrong!

The majority of these songs are official and to add insult to injury, I already had them in my massive collection and didn't even realize it.

We all know Cyndi Lauper as the cute bubbly New Yorker with a cool accent and a bigger-than-life voice when she opens her mouth to sing.  Cyndi Lauper is also an ally of the gay community and helps run The True Colors Fund, which tirelessly works to end LGBT homelessness.

The gay community fully supports Cyndi, her work as a singer, actress, and activist.  It's for all these things and more that Party Favorz (finally) officially inducts Miss Lauper into the Diva Hall of Fame.  We have nothing but love for you.  ENJOY!

Oh no, say it ain't so!  Yup, we have finally arrived at the final set paying tribute to the genius that is Hex Hector.  To be honest, Hector didn't create all of these mixes himself.  He has partnered with several folks for the final product throughout this eight-set series.  Dezrok, Soul Solution, and even Jonathan Peters helped him flesh out a lot of these songs.  Perhaps there is no more deserving of recognition in his partnerships than Mac Quayle.

Mac Quayle is a Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist, who has written and produced for many of the DIVAS included in this series.  Today, he produces scores for a multitude of TV shows and movies.  His partnership with Hex Hector on many of the productions they put out is equally as important to shaping the sound of the finished product as the lead man himself.  I just want to ensure that Mac gets the credit he deserves, because without him on board, many of these remixes may have never occurred much less been as stellar as they are. Mac, we salute you!

Much like volume 7, this set includes many number-one Billboard Club/Dance hits but is still considered to be lesser than many of the iconic ones spread out over this series.  That is until you get to the final two.  Whitney Houston's I Will Always Love You and Celine Dion's I Drove All Night was about as massive and iconic as they get.  So for those of you who questioned why these weren't included ...HERE THEY ARE!

I've got a very special Diva Series going up tomorrow, which kicks off the pre-Madonna birthday month celebrations.  More news on that this Saturday.

Until then ...ENJOY!

We're at the tail-end of the Hex Hector Mixology series with volume 7.  This particular set is for hardcore Hex enthusiasts.  There are a couple of his trademark songs towards the end, but most of these were minor club hits (even if some of them went to #1 on the Billboard Dance Club chart).

Tomorrow, I'll up the final set for you folks.  Until then ...ENJOY!

Also, I was impressed with I've Had Enough by Regina Belle, a song I'm not even familiar with but there it was sitting in my hard drive LOL.  It happens.

Trying to keep this short and I'll be back tomorrow with volume 7.  Until then ...ENJOY!

Volume V of the Hex Hector Mixology series is a cream mix featuring many of his biggest hits.  Normally I pick favs out of each set, but this particular one is stacked head-to-toe with them, so it's kind of pointless.

I'm elated over the positive response these sets have generated.  I had attempted to put these together back in 2010 after I had created the Thunderpuss tribute sets but just couldn't get my head wrapped around it.  I remember nothing was working for me, so I just put it off for another day.  It wasn't until DJTMD from Montreal reached out to me about some Hex mixes and mentioned he may take a stab at it, that it jogged my memory.  I'm glad he did because overall, I think these have come together quite nicely.

I have expanded it from six to a total of eight in this series.  That means I've got three more going up this week.  So if your favorite mix hasn't shown up yet, it likely will once all the sets have been posted.

I'll be back tomorrow with volume 6.  Until then ...ENJOY!

I'm back with the fourth installment of the Hex Hector Mixology tribute.  There aren't too many surprises in this set other than Aretha Franklin's A Rose Is Still a Rose, which frankly is a timeless slice of house.  Personal favorites in this set are George Michael's Outside, Faith Hill's Breathe, Donna Summer's Love On & On.  Probably my ALL-TIME favorite that I've reached out for on more than one occasion [grin] is Angie Stone's remarkable Wish I Didn't Miss You.  This song makes my heart sink every time I hear it.

We still have three (yes three) more of these to go.  Be sure to keep checking back or better yet follow Party Favorz on Facebook, TuneIn (which is now updating correctly), email, my feed, or any of the numerous ways you prefer to get your updates.

Until the next time ...ENJOY!
