January 29, 2025 Chapter 21: Do Plans ever go as Planned?
Hey I'm back! So since recording chapter 20 and basically quitting the audiobook, I went and finished reading the story. And I'll tell you, it is fantastic! My favorite book I've read hands down! It's motivated me to actually finish the audiobook now, so that's what I am going to aim for this year. I'll be releasing two chapters a week, and if I stick to it I should finish before the end of 2023.
I was getting fed up with the story not going anywhere fast enough originally. And to be fair, every hour of audiobook takes around 5 hours of work. So the 20 hours of audiobook I had done was 100 hours of work for me, and I just got fed up. Now that I've read the story though, I'm motivated to finish because I want more people to read/listen to this book so I can talk with them about it haha!
Anyway, enjoy this chapter, and the whole audiobook as it comes out!
(Ch 21 Spoiler) I love the scene with Crimson getting confused over toffee flavors, highlight of the chapter for me.

January 29, 2025 Chapter 20: When Life gives you Lemons
It's still Sunday somewhere! I was having a hard time doing the main voices for some reason, but hopefully it's not too noticeable.
Chapter 20 Spoilers:
About time something interesting or with an effect on anything happened. The last 8 chapters could be summarized as "prey is forced to investigate stuff against his will and is shown to be better at it than most people."
Sure I haven't written a book before, but I really think that this one would benefit from being condensed.

I don't have much to say about recording this chapter, nothing particularly special really about the process. I do dread whenever a character from a few chapters ago returns though, because by then I've completely forgotten what they are meant to sound like. My only hope is that maybe so have you haha.

January 29, 2025 Chapter 17: A Turf Dispute
A day late, but oh well. I've been more and more busy and it's hard to want to sit down for over two hours in a hot audio booth recording an audiobook in my bit of free time, then spend more time editing the audio and listening through.
Hopefully the quality of my readings is on an upward trend at least! I've been enjoying these for the VA experience and I am definitely more comfortable behind a mic than I used to be.
I might start uploading other projects or post I've been wanting to do as well, I've been avoiding posting anything but PaaL to try and help build the channel, but PaaL based growth seems to have stagnated anyway. It would also probably help me with avoiding burnout to vary what audio project I'm working on anyway.

January 29, 2025 Chapter 16: They Serve Steamed Hay in Jail
I have had some very busy weeks! First I was putting all of my free time into the Dawn Somewhere VidJam (I highly recommend checking my finished video out, I'm really happy with how it turned out. https://youtu.be/sYkqsJPVz2Y ) Then immediately things just got way busier for me in work and education, and I had no time to spend on this project. A chapter this length ends up being 4-5 hours of work between recording, editing, and listening back through for repeated lines.
I'm still going to be busy for a while, and the chapters just keep getting longer, so for a few weeks at least I'm just going to be doing 1 chapter a week. This should help me maintain an upload schedule even with all I've got going on.

January 29, 2025 Chapter 15: A Bed made for Rocky
I butchered quite a few words in this chapter, I'm spread pretty thin right now and was more tired than I'm comfortable with while recording, so pronounce word hard. Anyway, enjoy chapter 15!
I'm thinking I should add a sound or bit of quiet music at the end of the chapters, as right now they just end very abruptly. I've been formatting the audio to meet audible requirements because I figure if I'm going to learn to do an audiobook I may as well do it to industry standards! But with it on YouTube, and releasing 2 chapters a week, I'm thinking some kind of end of chapter audio indication would be nice.

January 29, 2025 Chapter 14: A Tulip Flower Bed
I'm recording this just before going out of town, so I might not have the next chapter out on time as I won't be home to edit. Anyway, I recorded this one sitting. I've done every other chapter standing. Can you tell a difference in my voice? It was kinda nice for me because it was actually a bit easier to focus on the lines and I had less mistakes to edit out. Plus I can record for longer without burning out when sitting. But if I sound worse, I'd rather do them standing anyways.
