In this Pro Tools Expert Podcast Extra, Technical Editor James Ivey talks to Joey Sturgis of drum sample library and plug-in developers Drumforge and his own company Joey Sturgis Tones or JST.Joey starts by talking about his time back in high school as a drummer and how he started to write and develop plug-ins. First only working on VST for Cubase but then moving on to code for AU, RTAS and now AAX formats  Joey recounts some of his earliest recording experiences and how he would get help, advice and sometimes a harsh reality check from some of the more brutal online music production forumsJoey is one of the founder directors of drum sample library company Drumforge, which James believes to be ones of, if not the most natural sounding drum library available. They talk about the Drumforge ethos about how they create a new product. Working from a solutions perspective rather than that of a product. To say Joey keeps himself busy could be the understatement of the year, as along side his involvement with Drumforge and JST, Joey also now runs a training company called The Unstoppable Recording Machine and online tutorial website for rock and metal production called Nail The Mix.  Joey talks about some of his time management strategies and he extensive used of Google Drive. For a young man of 32, Joey has so far achieved a great deal in both his music production and music tech carriers and from what you will hear he has no plans for stopping anytime soon.
