  • AuKing Mining to launch stage 2 uranium drilling at Mkuju Project
AuKing Mining Ltd (ASX: AKN) managing director Paul Williams sits down with Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson to discuss preparations for a stage 2 exploration drilling program at the Mkuju Uranium Project in southern Tanzania. This program follows the identification of uranium mineralisation during the stage 1 program.
The company plans to drill 75 holes, covering about 11,000 metres, using a combination of aircore and reverse circulation (RC) drilling methods. The RC rig is selected for its capability to penetrate deeper rock, which is necessary due to difficult access conditions in some target areas.
Williams noted that stage 1 activities conducted in late 2023 highlighted several potential uranium-rich areas. The stage 2 drilling is expected to begin within the next few weeks, following the completion of road and drill pad access. Previous exploration results included notable uranium concentrations in auger and soil samples, with significant grades up to 8,800 ppm in soil and 3,350 ppm in auger drilling.
The company has allocated approximately $800,000 for this stage 2 program, with the intent to proceed to resource estimate definition drilling if the results indicate economically viable mineralisation.

  • Union Jack Oil sees early success in US ventures
Union Jack Oil PLC (AIM:UJO, OTCQB:UJOGF) executive chairman David Bramhill takes Proactive's Stephen Gunnion through the significant strides in expanding its portfolio, particularly focusing on its US assets. Bramhill highlighted the commercial success achieved in the Andrews 1 well, where over 6,500 barrels of oil have already been sold. He emphasised the speed and efficiency of operations in the U.S., contrasting it with the slower processes in the UK.
The conversation also covered the company's strong UK asset base, particularly Wressle, which continues to generate substantial cash flow. Bramhill pointed out the added value of UK assets due to the limited issuance of new licenses.
Further, he detailed the ongoing diversification in the US, mentioning the successful drilling in the Andrews field and the optimistic outlook for upcoming wells, including Taylor, Moccasin, and Diana-1. Despite challenges such as increased taxation in the UK, Bramhill expressed confidence in the company's financial position and future prospects.
Bramhill also discussed Union Jack Oil’s recent listing on the OTCQB market and the steps being taken to engage with US investors.

  • Silver North CEO Discusses Tim Property Partnership and Drilling Progress
Silver North Resources CEO Jason Weber joined Steve Darling from Proactive on the company’s ongoing 2024 exploration activities at the Tim silver property in Yukon, which is currently under option to and operated by Coeur Mining. The exploration efforts have made significant headway, with over 1,300 meters of diamond drilling completed across four holes.
Weber explained to Proactive that the diamond drilling at the Tim Property is primarily focused on testing the potential for both stratiform and structural styles of Carbonate Replacement Deposit mineralization. The primary target of this drilling campaign is the Wolf Fault, a northwest-striking, steeply southwest-dipping structure. This fault runs parallel to the regionally significant Kechika Fault, which extends from the Silvertip land package through the Tim Property and onto Silver North’s Veronica Project.
To date, all four drilled holes have successfully intersected the strongly oxidized Wolf structure and its parallel splays. Notably, the Wolf Fault has been observed to bring the overlying Kechika phyllite and argillites into fault contact with the underlying Rosella Limestone Formation—a key prospective horizon for CRD mineralization. At greater depths, additional parallel structures to the Wolf Fault have been encountered within the Boya Formation argillites, which lie beneath the Rosella limestones. These geological features indicate that the Wolf Fault target at Tim could be part of a larger and potentially productive CRD system.
In addition to the ongoing drilling, Coeur Mining has plans to complete a total of six drill holes, targeting approximately 2,200 meters. Expanding on the initial 2024 exploration program, Coeur will also conduct two detailed airborne geophysical surveys over the entire project area. These surveys will include magnetics and radiometrics, along with a Mobile MT survey, which has the potential to detect conductive features at greater depths than those revealed by the recent SkyTEM airborne survey.
The expanded exploration program is expected to wrap up by early September. The results from these efforts will provide critical insights into the mineral potential of the Tim silver property and guide future exploration activities. As Silver North Resources and Coeur Mining continue their collaborative efforts, the Tim Property remains a promising asset in the quest to uncover valuable mineral resources in the Yukon.

  • Aqua Metals Advances Sierra ARC Facility with Key Installations and Operational Milestones
Aqua Metals CEO Steve Cotton joined Steve Darling from Proactive to provide an update on the significant progress made at the company’s first commercial-scale black mass recycling facility, known as the Sierra ARC, during the second quarter of 2024. The facility, which is central to Aqua Metals' mission to lead in sustainable battery recycling, has seen substantial advancements, including the completion of a five-megawatt utility power upgrade, the installation of critical infrastructure like switchgear and steel superstructures, and the addition of essential equipment such as evaporation systems, tanks, and controls systems.
Cotton shared with Proactive that the pilot facility has been consistently operating on a 24x5 schedule, demonstrating the scalability and efficiency of Aqua Metals’ proprietary AquaRefining technology. This continuous operation not only underscores the robustness of their technology but also serves as a vital source of process validation data. This data is crucial for the due diligence processes conducted by potential financing partners who are considering investments in the facility.
Aqua Metals is actively engaging with these financing partners to secure the necessary funds for the completion of the Sierra ARC build-out. The company is focused on structuring this financing in a way that avoids burdensome debt service, exploring options such as project finance, strategic financial partnerships, and industry investments. Cotton emphasized that these efforts are aligned with Aqua Metals’ broader strategy to establish a financially sustainable and industry-leading recycling operation.
The ongoing development of the Sierra ARC facility is a key milestone for Aqua Metals, marking a significant step towards full commercial operation. Once completed, the facility will be a critical component in the company's strategy to recycle critical metals from used batteries, supporting the circular economy and reducing environmental impact. With these advancements, Aqua Metals continues to position itself at the forefront of innovation in the battery recycling industry.
