  • Golden Shield Resources Announces Acquisition of Tucano Gold
Golden Shield Resources Executive Chairman Leo Hathaway joined Steve Darling from Proactive to announce a strategic move for the company. Golden Shield Resources has entered into a non-binding letter of intent with Tucano Gold to acquire all issued and outstanding securities of Tucano Gold in exchange for securities in Golden Shield Resources.
This acquisition positions Golden Shield Resources to benefit from continued exposure to exploration opportunities at Marudi and the potential of Tucano Gold to unlock the value of a near-producing, high-grade gold asset in Brazil. Both Marudi and Tucano Gold are situated in the same geologically rich but poorly understood gold belt, providing the resultant company with significant geological knowledge, operational synergies, and strategic advantages for future discoveries.
Tucano Gold's primary asset, Mina Tucano, is an open-pit operation with substantial underground development potential. It is fully equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure capable of processing up to 3.5 million tonnes of ore per year. Currently on care and maintenance, Mina Tucano is scheduled for a production restart in Q4 2024. This acquisition is expected to enhance Golden Shield Resources' operational capabilities and expedite its path to production, thereby delivering significant value to its shareholders.

  • Cambridge Raman Imaging CEO Matteo Negro on disruptive imaging technology
Matteo Negro, CEO of Cambridge Raman Imaging Ltd, a portfolio company of Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP), joins Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with more on the company's innovative Coherent Raman Imaging technology.
Cambridge Raman Imaging’s laser technology produces detailed digital images of human cells and tissues in near real-time. It can be incorporated with standard medical microscopes, and operated by non-specialists.
Traditional techniques required surgeons to remove samples of cells and tissues, and chemically stain them to detect anomalies, such as tumours. Alternative imaging technologies are bulky, expensive and need specialist operators to make them work.
Negro explained that Cambridge Raman Imaging’s laser technology produces detailed digital images of human cells and tissues in near real-time. It can be incorporated with standard medical microscopes, and operated by non-specialists, such as researchers or histopathologists. The technology is therefore faster, more accurate and easier to use than existing techniques.
Cambridge Raman Imaging recently launched a pre-Series A funding round to accelerate growth, scale the team, and build an independent manufacturing facility. This funding will also support the clinical validation and regulatory approval process for tumour diagnosis.

  • FTSE 100 starts lower as US tech earnings disappoint, EasyJet and Reckitt rise - Market Report
The FTSE 100 has shifted lower as several stocks suffered negative read-across after updates from larger international rivals.
Burberry continued its downward momentum after French luxury giant LVMH warned that a slowdown in China had led to lower sales in the second quarter.
Meanwhile, tech investment group Scottish Mortgage also fell at the open as Tesla missed its profit guidance while Google owner Alphabet came in under on its YouTube ad revenue estimates.
On the other end was Easyjet, which gained altitude on the back of third-quarter results. Profits rose 16% and summer bookings impressed after Ryanair's warning this week.
Also rising was Reckitt Benckiser after it announced a sweeping reorganisation of its business that will see it dispose of ‘non-core’ brands. The fast-moving consumer goods conglomerate plans to get rid of Air Wick, Mortein, Calgon, Cillit Bang and other non-core products from its home care range.
In mid-caps, Aston Martin Lagonda rallied after reiterating full-year guidance despite reporting lower sales and larger losses in the second quarter.

  • Magmatic Resources reports significant gold and copper anomalies at Lady Ilse
Magmatic Resources Ltd (ASX:MAG) managing director Adam McKinnon sits down with Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson to discuss the results of a 64-hole aircore geochemistry program north of the Lady Ilse Prospect in Central West NSW.
The results indicate significant gold and copper mineralisation, with one hole intersecting 6 metres at 0.80 g/t gold and 0.15% copper from 12 metres. The findings suggest potential for a Boda-style porphyry system at Lady Ilse, nearly doubling the near-surface gold and copper anomaly to more than 1,200 metres in length, with the trend open to the north. The technical team is modelling the new data to develop a follow-up program and evaluate further drill sites.
The aircore program, completed with 64 holes totalling 598 metres, was conducted to test basement geochemistry through shallow cover. Multiple holes showed encouraging gold-copper mineralisation, with several notable results including 17 metres at 0.37 g/t gold and 0.10% copper from 6 metres. These results significantly expand the Lady Ilse system.
The program's progress was hindered by inclement weather in mid-July, delaying the planned RC drilling at Rose Hill. This program, which includes 3-5 RC holes, aims to test the shallow copper-gold potential of the prospect.
Magmatic continues its exploration efforts at Wellington North, including targets at Boda Southwest and Lady Ilse.

  • Centaurus Metals’ positive feasibility study sets up future objectives
Centaurus Metals Limited (ASX:CTM OTCQX:CTTZF) managing director Darren Gordon sits down with Proactive’s Jonathan Jackson to discuss the work being done at the company’s 100%-owned Jaguar Nickel Sulphide Project in the Carajás Mineral Province of northern Brazil.
Earlier this month the company announced the completion of a positive feasibility study (FS) for the project in a region renowned for its large-tonnage mineral deposits. The feasibility study indicates strong economic prospects for the project, focusing on a concentrate-only model, which promises a long-life production profile with first quartile operating costs.
The Jaguar Project is a key asset for Centaurus, supporting the company's goal to develop a diversified critical minerals business in Brazil with strong environmental, social and governance (ESG) credentials. The study suggests that the project has the potential to become a sustainable and low-cost producer of low-emission nickel, catering to global markets. It is poised to generate significant financial returns and provide substantial social and economic benefits to local communities.
The project is expected to be one of the largest undeveloped nickel sulphide resources globally, strategically important for the electric vehicle (EV) battery supply chain. The FS covers an initial 18-year mine life, utilising open pit mining to deliver nickel sulphide ore to a 3.5 million tonnes per annum conventional nickel flotation plant. This plant aims to produce approximately 18,700 tonnes of recovered nickel metal annually at a low life-of-mine (LOM) C1 operating cost of US$2.30 per pound and an all-in sustaining cost (AISC) of US$3.57 per pound.
