  • Immunic says $214M financing shows confidence in Phase 2 CALLIPER study as it targets unmet MS needs
Immunic, Inc. CEO Dr Daniel Vitt said the company is poised for a pivotal year following its announcement in January of a $214 million financing.
The funding, a testament to investor confidence, primarily supports Immunic's progressive work in multiple sclerosis (MS), particularly its phase two CALLIPER study and two phase three studies, ENSURE1 and ENSURE2. The CALLIPER study, expected to release full data in April 2025, focuses on progressive MS, a field with limited treatment options. Immunic's approach stands out with its drug Vidofludimus Calcium, showing neuroprotective potential, a unique feature in the MS treatment landscape.
Vitt highlighted the dual-action mechanism of Vidofludimus Calcium: as a potent DHODH inhibitor and an activator of Nurr1, a nuclear receptor involved in neuroprotection. This combination addresses the medical need for MS treatments effectively. Additionally, Immunic is advancing in other areas, notably with its innovative molecule IMU-856 targeting gut health, showing promise in celiac disease and other conditions with high unmet medical needs.
With several significant milestones anticipated, including the results of the CALLIPER trial and the future analysis in their phase three RMS program, Immunic stands at the forefront of addressing critical gaps in MS treatment and beyond.

  • Emmerson outlines big environmental and financial benefits from Khemisset Multi-mineral Process
Emmerson PLC chief executive Graham Clarke discusses the company's groundbreaking Khemisset Multi-mineral Process (KMP) in an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion.
Clarke said the KMP will revolutionize its Khemisset Potash Project with environmental and economic benefits, aligning with Morocco's sustainability goals. The process transforms waste brines into valuable products like slow-release fertilizers, reducing runoff risks and lessening overall fertilizer usage. Significantly, it cuts water consumption by 50%, a crucial advancement in drought-stricken Morocco.
Clarke highlighted the financial impact of KMP, boosting the project's Net Present Value from $1 billion to $2.2 billion and the Internal Rate of Return from 26% to 40%, despite inflation and rising equipment costs. This surge is attributed to monetizing waste products into two new offerings: Struvite and Vivianite, with conservative market pricing yet potential for higher returns due to their unique qualities.
The interview also touched on the new fertilizer products, Struvite and Vivianite, alongside byproducts like ammonium chloride and industrial-grade salt, exploring recycling and market expansion possibilities.
Clarke concluded with updates on further optimizations, the integration of KMP into feasibility studies, and the pursuit of offtake agreements.

  • OptionsDesk MD James Proudlock on 2024 market outlook and challenges
OptionsDesk managing director James Proudlock analyses the 2024 market start, noting the unexpected dovish turn by Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell at the end of 2023, which signalled potential interest rate cuts. This initially spurred a market rally but was soon overshadowed by escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and Eastern Europe, heightening risks and resurrecting inflation concerns. Proudlock specifically highlights the impact on oil supply and prices, emphasising the fragile balance disrupted by these geopolitical events.
To enhance the FTSE 100's appeal to investors, Proudlock suggests easing listing rules, offering business-friendly tax environments, and attracting a diverse investor base. He notes the FTSE's dominance by value stocks like oil, mining, and pharmaceuticals, and contrasts it with the S&P 500's growth stock-driven performance. He anticipates a potential shift from growth to value stocks, benefiting the FTSE without major changes.
Proudlock explains the utility of options in uncertain markets, highlighting their flexibility beyond direct price movements. Options, he notes, gain value from underlying asset volatility and time sensitivity, offering strategic benefits distinct from traditional asset investments.
Post the Global Financial Crisis, options faced scepticism but regained prominence during COVID-19 due to market volatility. Proudlock discusses various strategies like covered calls for income generation and puts for downside protection, emphasising their role in sophisticated investment approaches during fluctuating markets.
OptionsDesk differentiates itself by offering expert human interaction, crucial for managing complex, leveraged derivatives. Proudlock highlights the firm's expertise in margin management and tailored risk-profile solutions for clients, positioning OptionsDesk as a niche player for serious traders.

  • Lukewarm response to Google, AMD and Microsoft earnings - OptionsDesk
OptionsDesk's Sebastian Blanco discusses the latest earnings reports from Google, AMD and Microsoft and their impact on stock market dynamics. Despite meeting or exceeding expectations, these tech giants saw a surprising drop in share prices. Blanco explained that investors often expect more than just meeting forecasts; they look for significant overperformance, which influences stock values.
Google and AMD's shares fell by 6% in pre-market trading, while Microsoft remained stable. Although Google, Microsoft, and AMD reported increased revenues, investor confidence in Google wavered due to lower-than-expected advertising growth. AMD, while posting solid earnings, offered a conservative outlook for Q1, focusing more on their data centre segment, highlighted by $2.5 billion in pre-orders for their AI-focused MI 300 series GPUs.
Microsoft's revenue, boosted by AI initiatives, grew by 30%, attributing 6% of this growth to AI advancements. CEO Satya Nadella emphasized the company's shift from discussing AI to implementing it at scale. This AI focus is expected to be a common theme among tech companies, with Apple and Meta also anticipated to touch on AI in their upcoming earnings reports.
Blanco also mentioned the Federal Open Market Committee's interest rate decision, highlighting the market's attention to the Federal Reserve's future rate cut indications. This insightful analysis offers a comprehensive overview of current trends in the tech industry and financial markets, underscoring the intricate relationship between corporate earnings, investor expectations, and market responses.

  • Ethernity Networks experiences positive growth and restructuring amid TSP process
Ethernity Networks Ltd chief executive David Levi joined Proactive's Stephen Gunnion with details of the company's significant strides during the Temporary Suspension of Proceedings (TSP) process, which has now been concluded.
Despite these challenges, Ethernity Networks reported a strong Q4 in 2023, with $1.7 million in cash from customers and annual cash receipts totaling $5 million. The company's revenues reached $3.8 million, marking a 30% increase from 2022.
Levi highlighted the successful restructuring efforts that reduced expenses by over 50%, with a strategic shift towards semiconductor delivery systems on a chip. This move has streamlined operations and positioned the company for efficient market engagement and customer traction in 2024.
The anticipated approval of the settlement proposal in February is seen as a positive step. Levi emphasized that all funds in the bank are earmarked for operations, not creditor repayment, thanks to an agreement to spread debts over 12 months. This financial strategy ensures continued service to existing customers and the acquisition of new ones, strengthening Ethernity Networks' position for 2024.
Levi also discussed the rollout of the Universal Edge Platform, a unique offering in the telecom market featuring a single programmable chip (FPGA) with integrated routing engines and additional functions like layer one bonding, encryption, and fibre optic control. • Raiden Resources prepares for maiden drill campaign at Andover South lithium project in Australia
Raiden Resources Ltd managing director Dusko Ljubojevic discusses the company's current projects and future prospects in an interview with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion.
The ASX-listed exploration company has projects in the Western Tethyan Copper-Gold belt in Eastern Europe, as well as in Australia.
Ljubojevic noted that the primary focus is on the Andover South lithium project in Australia. This project is adjacent to a significant discovery by Azure Minerals, which has attracted an A$1.7 billion takeover by lithium heavyweight Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM). He said the project shows immense potential with pegmatites running up to almost 4% lithium oxide (LI2O).
Over the past six months, Raiden has concentrated on mapping and understanding the potential of the Andover South project, identifying a two-kilometre striking zone with multiple pegmatites. The project's spodumene is the dominant mineral, which is ideal for lithium extraction.
Besides Andover South, Raiden has secured 100% rights to the Mount Sholl and Arrow Gold projects. The Mount Sholl project, a copper-nickel-PGE deposit, has historical drilling of over 80,000 meters, indicating significant expansion potential. Raiden has partnered with First Quantum to advance this project towards final feasibility.
For now, Ljubojevic said the company is focused on securing a heritage survey over the target zones at Andover South ahead of a maiden drill campaign at the project.

Ecora Resources PLC CEO Marc Bishop Lafleche has provided a positive outlook for the company in 2024, following a strong end to 2023.
Speaking to Proactive's Stephen Gunnion following the release of the company's fourth-quarter results, Bishop Lafleche highlighted the expected momentum across its portfolio with volume growth ranging from 10 to 40%, driven by key assets such as Mantos Blancos and Kestrel. The CEO emphasized Ecora's sector-leading copper growth profile, with significant advancements expected in projects like Santo Domingo and the West Musgrave nickel-copper project in Australia.
Bishop Lafleche also discussed strategic movements in the company's holdings, notably the increased royalty in the Piaui nickel project and the sale of a stake in LIORC. These decisions align with Ecora’s focus on de-risking projects and strengthening their balance sheet, exemplified by the 110% pre-tax return from the Labrador investment.
Furthermore, the extension of Ecora's debt facility to 2027, with an increased accordion feature, was announced, showcasing the continued support from lending banks and positioning the company for further growth. • Magnetite Mines makes strong progress at Razorback as it targets key partnerships, water supply
Magnetite Mines Ltd CEO Tim Dobson highlights the company's key achievements and future plans following the release of a second-quarter activities report.
Dobson emphasized the company's strategic partnerships and technical advancements, particularly in water supply engineering for its Razorback Iron Ore Project. A significant accomplishment for the company was a successful capital raise, exceeding their target with $6.5 million, which closed in late November. This achievement was crucial, especially considering the challenging investment climate for micro-cap stocks on the ASX.
Dobson also discussed Magnetite Mines' focus on developing relationships with strategic partners in Japan and the Middle East, driven by the growing demand for green steel. These regions, especially the Middle East, are rapidly investing in green iron production, making them prime markets for Magnetite Mines' high-grade iron ore from the Razorback project.
Further, the interview touched on the company's negotiations for joint ventures, which are progressing well. These partnerships are vital for the project's long-term success and are being carefully cultivated, considering both technical and geopolitical factors.
Additionally, Dobson highlighted a memorandum of understanding with Pacific Partnerships for financing and project collaboration. This partnership aligns with the company's large-scale infrastructure needs and its commitment to green steel and iron production in Australia.
An essential aspect of the company’s strategy is its focus on sustainability and responsible mining. This commitment is evident in their partnership agreement with the Ngadjuri Nation, emphasizing respectful and sustainable stakeholder relations.
Lastly, Dobson addressed the challenge of water supply for mining operations in Australia. The company is exploring various options, including saline water processing, and is in discussions with the South Australian Government to support a multiuser water pipeline, which could provide a sustainable and scalable solution for water supply needs.
